Val Littlewood Biography
Val has been an artist, illustrator, designer and lecturer for many years working for UK and USA publishers, the ceramics giftware industry and teaching many art subjects at all levels.
Most recently she spent a year recording and writing about the plants in the Botanical Garden in Orlando culminating in an exhibition of both the writings and drawing. Currently she lives near Huntingdon, teaching, drawing, painting, printmaking and trying to coax something out of her new heavy clay garden. She has a travelling show “BUZZ” which showcases 28 species of our wild bees and talks about bees and their conservation.

'The bees, the natural world, growing plants and recording what I see around me in both words and images is a never ending source of inspiration, and fascination. Recording from the natural world, in whatever medium you choose, opens your eyes to an extraordinary world of beauty, colour, ingenious design and intricate pattern. I am constantly learning and experimenting with new ways of working. Join me to explore and create.'

Rutland County Council, Special Meeting, Rutland Anti Corruption, Bevan Brittan, Paid £711 to attend

Many people found it unacceptable that Bevan Brittan Solicitors were paid by Rutland County Council the grand sum of £8,000 or a bad report.

Their wonderful solicitor was permitted a seat at the council table at the special meeting "kangaroo court"

For this wonderful service Bevan Brittan Charged a further £711

Cllr Joyce Lucas, Highly Critical of Oakham Town Clerks Report, Oakham Fitness Centre, Fence

Cllr Joyce Lucas, Highly Critical of Oakham Town Clerks Report, Oakham Fitness Centre,  Fence

Like a coward she took advantage of the Clerks absence and slated his report and work publicly.

She needs to be careful he just might start waving the bully card in her direction if she continues to take
on her new role of acting in the interest of the local tax payer.

She complained about the way the report had been written and most shockingly he said she would
have expected three quotes for each option.

The council has decided to go for the cheaper option of giving the Fitness Centre a free (paid for  by the tax payer) low level fence. The Clerk has also been instructed to obtain three quotes. That surely is going to see
a few more days of sick this next month.

The fitness centre don't want this option, I suggest if they are unhappy they buy their own instead of
begging for tax payers hand outs.

They have enjoyed a quarter of last years precept so far how more is going to be spent on this private
company?

Oakham Town Council, Has no objections to proposed new housing estate, former Parks School Site and Barleythorpe Field

Oakham Town Council, Has no objections to proposed new housing estate, former Parks School Site and Barleythorpe Field

Last night Oakham Town Council considered planning application from Bellway Homes
who are proposing to build 61 homes on the sites mentioned above.

Councillors acknowledge local residents had asked for a number of parking spaces and
the developer was only willing to provide spaces two less than needed. The Town Council
made no recommendation to support the residents.

The made very little comment about the development as a whole. This is quite normal
for the town council. Pointless....

Cllr Dodds did raise a concern she had regarding the number of homes to be built
in such a small plot,

The Chairman Cllr Adam Lowe blamed the government, suggesting they controlled the
density of housing developments. I am sure this is not the case.

JD Wetherspoon, New Oakham Pub, Name, the Hague or Captain Noel Newton

JD Wetherspoon, New Oakham Pub, Name, the Hague or Captain Noel Newton

At last nights council meeting Oakham Mayor Cllr Dewis revealed details about the private
meeting the Town Council had with the Pub Chain.

He reported that Wetherspoons did not want to name  the pub after Cpt Newton a former Rutland High Sheriff. who sold the building to the Royal British Legion cheaply.

The internet suggests the man was a Major.

Cllr Dewis went on to say Wetherspoons prefer the name The Hague.

Cllr Dewis who is also chair of the undemocratic Oakham Town Partnership said the
Town  Partnership is letting the pub know it would want the pub to be named after captain Newton.
I hope the pub chain is aware that the Town Partnership is made up of mostly the same members
who are Town Council not elected by the residents and who don't hold Oakham residents
views in mind when making this sort of decision, Only considering their own and fellow  ex forces friends
selfish views

I would suggest the Limes a name given to the building apparently when it was a home

A perfect tribute also for the two healthy Lime trees the pub chain is planning kill off.

Leicestershire Police Plans for Oakham, Cllr Dewis would expect the same or better, Cllr Adam Lowe, Worse since 1850's

Last night Oakham Town Council considered plans from Leicestershire Police.

They want to build on top and behind the old probation office.
This has also been described as the old police station. Cllr Adam Lowe an expert on
Rutland Police history says that description is wrong, pointing out the old police station stood on the
site next to the small building and was demolished many years ago to make way for the current
building. He said, The small building was the weights and measures building.

Whatever the original purpose of this building, it seems a great pity another small piece of Oakham's
history may be lost for good.

Cllr Lowe described the proposed new police building as the worst Police Station Oakham and
Rutland had seen since 1850's

The Mayor Cllr Alf Dewis said, The proposed police station lacked a public reception.
He would expect the police to provide the same or better service from the location.

Cllr Lucas and Nowell agreed with him

Cllr Lockett added no CCTV room?

Today's Rutland Times has published a story referring to this issue. Police in talks about running inquiry desk at Rutland County Council offices

Ron Simpson, company secretary for Rutland Neighbourhood Watch Association, has highlighted the positives and negatives of a one-stop-shop.

He also said,  making sure people have privacy is essential.

Something that would be put at serious risk if this partnership with Rutland County Council was to go ahead.

Some time ago Leicester Police stopped Oakham Town Councillors just turning up to JAG meetings for that very reason.

Not surprised, Rutland County Council deputy leader Councillor Terry King (Conservative) said: “We are happy to work with and support police on a solution which meets their needs. Discussions are taking place but nothing has been finalised yet.”

Oakham Town Councillors who all appeared to object to the plans, decided not to object or approve adopting there normal wishy washy style about matters concerning Oakham and simply agreed to make
comments.

Clearly not wanting to upset their good working relationship with the fine force of Leicestershire Police

Former Ashwell Prison Site To Be Named Oakham Enterprise Park

Former Ashwell Prison Site To Be Named Oakham Enterprise Park

At last nights Oakham Town Council meeting it appears Oakham Mayor Cllr Dewis let slip
the new name for Rutland County Councils business park,

Cllr John Nowell quickly said that is a secret.

We will have to wait and see

Leicestershire Police Still Ignore Drink Driving Councillor, Do I have to declare asks Oakham Town Councillor, I drink a lot there, Everards Planning

Before  Oakham Town Council considered a planning application from Everards Brewery

Counciillors thought it was very funny that another councillor asked
"I drink there a lot, do I need to declare that"?

I don't find it funny, some time ago Cllr Joyce Lucas told me about this
councillors desperate  need to  get to the pub after each meeting.

They drink spirits and use a blue badge to park on double yellow lines
outside the front door of the pub.

After the long drinking session they get into their car and drive home.

They once admitted in a meeting held at Rutland County Council that they a partial to putting their
foot down, (speeding) too the village where they live. A combination of drink and speed not a
good mix.

I have to update you that the bail date has been extended to 3rd September 2013 so that the computers can be forensically examined. The length of time is due to the complicated and delicate nature of the examination to gather the evidence in a manner that can be produced for court.

The other matter of the blog being closed is in progress and I will update you with any further information.

I received the  above email from Leicestershire Police

I understand and accept the reason given for the extended bail.

Since his arrest the police have refused to name him?

I do not find it acceptable that a person who has affected at least four peoples lives for so long
can be arrested and enjoy such undeserved protection from Leicestershire Police.

I hope they will tell us who they have arrested before 3rd September

Has Cllr Haworth, Oakham Town Council Been Arrested, Woman Threatens to Torch herself at Oakham Police Station

Cllr Joyce Lucas, Refused to Accept Cllr Charles Haworths Apology for absence, Oakham Town Council

I telephoned Cllr Charles Haworth this evening.

To ask him if he is the person Leicestershire Police arrested in January.

I hung up as I was surprised to hear him answer his public number assuming I was Joyce?

I sent him a text message asking my questions, he failed to respond.

I suspect  the answer to my question is yes.

Over the years Cllr Haworth's behaviour towards me has been a disgrace.

Rutland  County Council have never investigated any standards complaint against him.

I guess that is a privilege he can expect as  a former employee of Rutland County Council
and then Melton Borough Council.

I am told The Chief Executives PA and Tory Leader Roger Begy's PA is Karen  Haworth
his sister  so I wonder she the leaked info to him and his group of unpleasant friends?

The reason I ask Councillor Haworth the question is because back in January he unusually
departed a meeting early.

The next day Leicestershire Police told me they had arrested a person and released them
on bail until 20th  March but refused to name the person.

Since then Cllr Haworth has failed to attend Oakham Town Councillor meetings
and tonight the lack of support from Cllr Lucas seems to indicate she who is bad as him, is
withdrawing her support.

Late today Leicestershire Police sent me a e-mail saying the bail of the arrested person has been
extended to 3rd  September 2013

Although I accept  the reason given.

It is not acceptable for Leicestershire Police to continue to refuse to give the name of the person
who has given an admission on tape.

Its very upsetting and my view this is adding to the harm this person and his friends have caused
us over the years.

I am strong, but it is upsetting to sit a listen to a woman in tears telling you about her dissatisfaction
of Leicestershire Police and the only way she can see this being resolved is by her buying 5 litres of
petrol and setting fire to herself at the police station.

I hope she does not carry out her threat and I hope those bullies connected to our local governance
are very  proud of what you have achieved?

Live@museum it premature to say its closed, says Cllr Joyce Lucas, Also Roger Begy Lied

Live@museum it premature to say its closed, says Cllr Joyce Lucas, Also Roger Begy Lied

Cllr Joyce Lucas reported to Oakham Town Council this evening, "it is premature to say Live@museum is closed"

She was not willing to reveal her secrets...

This despite Rutland County Council recently voting a budget cut to close it.

She went on to accuse a Rutland County Councillor of lying, Saying they had offered the running of the venue to Oakham Town Council and the Town Council turned it down.

I told her she was wrong and she persisted in saying the County Councillor made a false statement.

I of course was told of by the Chairman for speaking.

Cllr Lucas went on to say The Tory  Leader Roger Begy was lying, She said the Town Partnership had
not refused to run the venue .

At this point I step out of the meeting.

On my way out she asked the chairman if it was fine for her to name Roger Begy.

He said yes.

I counted to ten and returned to the meeting.
