Sir Alan Duncan Melton & Rutland Parliamentary Conservative Candidate Hustings Opening Statement

The following is typed as accurately as I could be as  I listened:

Sir Alan Duncan has an ambition to be around in Rutland for a little bit longer.
He also said he thinks this is one of the most important elections that any of
us have to make a decision about in our life time it is a choice about it is a choice
between stability and severe risk. Alan then said he thinks the coalition had between
his party and the Libdems had helped the country recover from a serious financial
mess a mess that could have been prevented as it was in Australia and Canada but
was not here. We are asking for permission from you the electorate to complete
the job. It is only if we have a stable economy and realistic about what we can
achieve, that we can pay for a health service and pay for education and to pay
for old age care, pay for defense. At the beginning of this parliament we were
raising 650 billion pounds in taxation and spending £750 billion no country
business or family can go on like that. We have to be realistic about what we
can do. with the nations money, to much of this election has been about
how we redistribute money rather than make it in the first place. With out a
good economy and growth we will have no public services, so what I am asking
for is a clear decision which can give financial and political stability.
Because if we have a mucky coalition where we run the danger of not being
able to form a government at all this country is going to go backwards we
will know doubt discuss this question but my main pitch is stability is
important trust the party  that actually promises less because in the end
that is the one that is honest.

Ed Reynolds Rutland Parliamentary Liberal Democrat Candidate Hustings Opening Statement Video

A Liberal Democrat Mr Hudson read his statement.

The following is typed as accurately as I could be as  I listened:

Ed Reynolds is a truly local candidate, his family were tenant farmers
in Cold Overton for 60 years. He lives in Oakham with his wife
and nine month old son. He mum and dad brothers and sisters all
live locally. Ed wants the same things for all those who live here
as he wants for his family. Best local NHS services, The best schools
and affordable housing. The best care for the elderly. Ed is new to
politics and has worked in renewable energy for the last seven
years and currently work for a company based her in Oakham.
Growing up means he understands local issues such as transport
mobile and broadband connectivity. If elected Ed would work so that
the proposed cut to the local fire, police and ambulance service do
not effect local response times. Ed joined the Libdems because
he believes in fairness and equal opportunities for all.
In 2010 the Libdems were crucial in performing a stable
government and rescuing the economy. Our policies have directly
benefited people living in Rutland and Melton, such as introducing
as introducing a pupil premium which has delivered £5.5 million
to local schools. Ed is proud the Libdems are committed to
protecting the education budget from cradle to college and
we will deliver the money the NHS needs. As well as setting mental
health waiting list targets. The Libdems are the only party to deliver
a stronger economy and a fairer society. Ed will always put his
constituents first. He will always fight to help the young and the
vulnerable. He hopes to reconnect people to the political process and
rebuild trust with the electorate,

James Moore Rutland Parliamentary Labour Candidate Hustings Opening Statement Video

The following is typed as accurately as I could be as  I listened:

James Moore lives down the road on the A47 Glaston near Uppingham
I have lived in Leicestershire and Rutland for much of my life. I am
currently a teacher at Leicester University. I have decided to stand
for this election with the support of the Labour Party because I am
very concerned about the future direction of our country not only about
our public services but also our economy in contrast to Alan Duncan's
comment what we have actually had is three and half years of stagnation
one and half year of bitter growth and now we see in the latest growth
figure which came out yesterday we can see the only sector which
is growing is the service sector, the building and construction sector
is going backwards. Manufacturing is basically bottoming out. That's
not a healthy economy, that's not a healthy society, I am also concerned
about the state of public services and you will know me from with
my campaigns with the fire service to try and save Oakham's second
fire engine, you will also know me from my campaigns to protect the
police from the horrendous cut that have been put forward which have
in fact already been put forward locally. I am also concerned about the
local NHS about putting forward better 24 hour care locally and
trying to solve the A&E crisis that is the platform that I am standing
on and fundamentally I think elections are about moral choice.
Elections are about making different choices about visions in society.
The Labour vision which is based on community, solidarity and
working together to solve problems, The Conservative vision is
based on individualism and in my opinion accumulating personal
wealth rather than public benefit. In short I think this election is about
creating a fairer Britain with Labour or a food bank Britain with the
Conservatives and that is the platform on which I am standing on
for this election.

Richard Billington Parliamentary UKIP Candidate Hustings Opening Statement Video

The following is typed as accurately as I could be as  I listened:

I am Richard Billington born in Whissendine I am extremely local.
I taught in Melton Mowbray and Leicester. I have worked in this
county and in Leicestershire. I know the area and I know the problems
we have got. This is not the first time we have been together, You
have seen meetings like this over and over again. The arguments go
one way and then another, and the whole issue that we are faced with
the whole issue we are faced with in this country is political short
terms. Short turn gains to get back into power fob off with whatever
promise they can speak in billions and pull the wool over their eyes
there does not seem to be a categorical attitude on the part of parliamentarians
to use long term planning to solve the nations problems. Yes we want more
housing yes we want a proper NHS Yes we want better roads and transport
but governments come in on short term promises. Everything goes arye
then its tried to be fixed again with similar promises I am tired of that
if you want proper social change you have got to stop this  Shinnie Shanniein
with the status quo. you have got to find a party which has got the
policies that will match the general needs of the people and stop this
change from one to another. UKIP means it we are we want in this election
to be brave above all else be brave this is your moment It is our moment
we are all fighting bu the closest you are going to get to an overall acceptance
is with UKIP I implore you to be brave and vote for UKIP in this election
thank you.  (Applause)

Alastair McQuillan Parliamentary Green Party Candidate Hustings Opening Statement Video

The following is typed as accurately as I could be as  I listened:

We have the wealth and the resources to do great things. We can build an
economy that gives everyone their fair share. We can create a humane
and caring society that supports every ones needs. We can be a world
leader in tackling the treat of climate change. Sadly our current politics
are failing this vast potential. The Green Party is putting forward a
bold plan to create a more equal and democratic society. whilst doing
our part to heal the planet which has been severely damaged by an
unstable unsustainable economy. The austerity experiment has failed
as it did in the 1930's most people have seen their living standards
drop while the top 1% have increased their wealth figures out last
we say we have 13 new billionaires fantastic. Politics as usual has
brought the people and this planet to their knees. The top 1% are
now worth more than the bottom 55% in our society millions of
households are living in poverty in fear of want this is not natural. It
is not inevitable and not a way to run a successful society. Our NHS
is being handed over to the private sector. resulting in a expensive
and in-experienced service. While the highly skilled staff are underpaid
and treated without due respect. Previous governments have failed
to get to grip with the serious issues of climate change. Possibly the
greatest challenge of our time. Yet not of this is inevitable there
is a real alternative at this election and we do not apologise  for being
bold or ambitious or have a long term vision for our country.
We certainly can not continue as a nation on our current pattern.
The Green Party believes in restoring and extending our public services.
to create good jobs that create the needs of a diverse population. We
believe we can build a better society that works for the common good
and those with broader shoulders really should pay their fair share towards
it. The politics of the future does not have to look like the politics of
the past. Together we can do this and we must do this.

The following is typed as accurately as I could be as  I listened:

I am Marilyn Gordon I am a born again christian which means I was fully immersed in water

been active dealing with issues raised by residents in this ward and an active member of
various committees dealing with issues concerning the borough. On a wider aspect I have
initiated an app specifically to be downloaded to mobiles to incorporate all the helplines
so that people can get help when they need it. This will be extremely advantageous to
young people and others who are experiencing suicidal thoughts. This is still going through
the process within the council and yet to be agreed. My main aims to the UK united. It says
