Celebrate the 300th anniversary of England's greatest landscape designer with us, at the home of his longest commission. Brown described his time at Burghley as '25 years of pleasure' and a dedicated exhibition and information leaflet will give you the history of his extensive work:

Introductory talks
A twenty minute informal introduction over tea, coffee and biscuits. This talk gives an overview of the history of the House, Family and Brown influence on the parkland and the House. Bookable for groups of 20 or more between 10.30am and 11.30am. £18.70 per person. (including admission to the House, Gardens and Parkland for the whole day).

Changing Landscape at Burghley
This full day experience gives a full exploration of Brown’s influence at Burghley.  After arrival tea and coffee, lectures will be given with emphasis on Brown’s work during his decade at Burghley including his architectural work.  During his time here, Brown was responsible not only for the gothic Summerhouse and Lion Bridge, but also drastically altering internal decoration and external facades of the House. After these lectures there will be the opportunity to view the ‘Capability’ Brown Exhibition before a soup and sandwich lunch in the ‘Capability’ Brown designed Orangery. The afternoon session will feature a guided tour of the parkland with our Head Forester viewing the evolution of the parkland from the original London and Wise plantings to Brown’s vistas. Bookable for groups of 20 from 10.30am to 4pm. £50 per person

The Gardens at Burghley
A lecture over tea, coffee and biscuits with our Head Gardener, viewing of the ‘Capability’ Brown Exhibition, and a tour of the Private South Gardens with views of the Summerhouse, Lion Bridge and South Facade all Brown’s design, and Gardens of Surprise including the Sculpture Garden, originally Brown’s lost arboretum. Bookable for groups of 20 from 10am to 12.30pm £20 per person.
Brown the Builder – The State Rooms & Gardens at Burghley

Following tea and coffee on arrival a tour of the State Rooms with our House Guides will focus on the work of Brown at Burghley including the renovation of the Chapel and alteration of the architecture of the House to aid views of his newly created parkland. This tour will also give the opportunity to view Brown’s Portrait in the Pagoda Room. After a break for lunch, the afternoon will feature a tour of the Gardens by our Head Gardener including views of the Summerhouse, Lion Bridge and South Facade, all Brownian designed. Bookable for groups for 20 or more for 10.15am arrival for coffee and tea, 10.30am House Tour and 2pm Gardens Tour. £30 per person (lunch not included).
