OK2WAY Oakham Protest Group Chaired By Tim Norton Owner Of Fords Tim Norton Motors, Protest March Planned

A protest group are planning to march to Rutland County Council on
Thursday 14th December 2018
Meeting in the market square at 15.30 and then marching to Rutland
County Councils offices at Catmose to hand in a petition against
the County Councils planned improvements to Oakham Town Centre
The group object to the introduction of a one way traffic system.

This is thought to be the first time Rutland Residents have planned a
protest march.

The final plans for Oakham Town Centre Improvements will be
considered at a council meeting at Rutland County Council in March
2018.

The Town Council will get a chance to consider the application
for the first time some time weeks before that date.

Hopefully the group will attend their Town Council meeting
and give a public deputation so I can get an understanding of their
concern and the reasons for those concerns.

Oakham Town Councils Mayor Cllr Michael made a decision this
major project proposed by Rutland County Council was not something
Oakham Town Council should be bothered to consider.

Recently we were invited to a presentation at the library at that event
I asked Cllr Haley if we could discuss the plans at our next council meeting.
Cllr Haley responded by telling me that he was not going to discuss council
business here.

The matter is not on next weeks agenda, I am aware of at least one other
member who has asked Oakham Town Council to involve itself in this
project.

We may not all agree with the protest groups opinion but we should listen
and contribute to these major plans.

Cllr Haley attempted at a past meeting to fob off a resident by stating the
submission of the Neighbour Plan Survey results was the councils response
to the consultation. Rubbish we did not even know he was sending it to
Rutland County Council as a response.
