(Oakham Town Council 2019 - 2020 budget a 19.5% increase)
Apologies this figure was incorrectly calculated for me.
I am not particularly surprised no one at Oakham Town Council appears to be interested in one
of a councillors most important tasks, setting the budget.
A finance working group was set up to work on preparing the budget.
The group included myself, Cllr Dave Romney and Cllr Zoe Neal.
I was expecting the group to meet instead I received a email from Cllr Dave Romney
telling us the first meeting was cancelled because we had done enough? this was very disappointing.
The Clerk Allison Greaves had produced a draft budget. NALC guidance makes it very clear
it is not the Clerks job to prepare the budget. It is a job for all Councillors. The Clerk can assist
in the preparation.

There are far to many other issues to list here.
Salaries: When the former Clerk departed the council increased this budget just in case something else happened. Nothing did as it was proved by Leicestershire Police the current Clerk was lying. So
no pay off there needed and we lost the Mayor Cllr Haley who was fuelling that period of hate at the council. I am pleased to say since he departed the clerk is much happier and all councillors enjoy a good working professional relationship with her including me, although I do think there should have been some consequences for her lies she told Leicestershire Police and there is the huge legal bills run up by the town council because of former Cllr Haley and Cllr Adam Lowes conduct.
The next example is we have not been given any details of the councils cash reserves apart from
the draft is suggesting we dump another £18,000 of public money into this mystery pool of money.
I am not looking forward to Monday's meeting, The Clerk has reminded us of one of our daft standing orders members are not permitted to discuss agenda items outside of meetings! No wonder nothing is ever done properly at Oakham Town Council.
The Mayor Councillor Adam Lowe has invited all members of the council to a free Christmas meal including one free drink at a local restaurant. The invitation also invite a Cllrs plus one.
I do not know who is paying for this generosity, I only hope it is not the tax payers of Oakham.
