Christine Emmett, Corby Loser, Conservative, Rutland County Councillor,Welcome back to the political scrap yard of Rutland.

CHRISTINE EMMETT - CONSERVATIVE Rutland County Councillor

Welcome back to the political scrap yard of Rutland.

Now please don't lock yourself away in your windmill, get back to helping
those who elected you in Ketton, whom you have neglected throughout your
campaign.

And please as Tory you are actually quite nice,  don't let your loss off your ticket
to Westminster turn you into the likes of the mob you sit next to at council meetings.

"little connection to the town of Corby" MP Alan Duncan, Christine Emmett, Corby Election

“There are close and well-established local ties between the wards making up the existing constituency of Rutland and Melton. These wards and, in particular, the settlements of Oakham and Uppingham have very little connection to the town of Corby.” says MP Alan Duncan speaking of his relief that Corby will not become pert of his watch

Corby voters might think there is little connection between them and the Tory Candidate Christine Emmett
who runs her business in Uppingham which is a "settlement which has very little connection with Corby."

In my years living here in Oakham, I have met some people who escaped Corby.

The Tories like to knock Corby only last week self confessed Oakham Tory Deputy Mayor Adam Lowe
said chairing a meeting at Oakham Town Council, people in Corby "don't pay for their domestic electricity usage"

Cllr Lowe said he has always been a Tory since Mrs Thatcher let him buy his council house.

I reminded him that was some time ago and the debt to her party must be paid in full by now..

David Sims it going to be difficult, Leader of Corby Tories Supports Christine Emmett, Louise Mensch wasn't seen as a great MP

Leader of Corby Council, Tom Beattie, said: “It is extraordinary that the Tories have selected another candidate who doesn’t seem to know where Corby and East Northamptonshire is.
“It’s further proof that the Tories know little and care less about the concerns of people in places like Corby and East Northamptonshire.”

He may have a point.

The Northanptonshire Telegraph fights back by stating  Mrs Emmett, lives in Morcott, Leicestershire,
We all know Rutland is not Leicestershire.

Leader of Corby Council’s Conservative group David Sims, who had intended to put himself forward for selection but changed his mind, pledged his support for Mrs Emmett.

He's is clearly not stupid and unwilling to commit political suicide.

He said: “I will give her my full support but it’s going to be difficult.

“We can expect a protest against Louise, as we have to admit that she wasn’t seen as a great MP. There will also be a protest against the Government and, while the other parties have been campaigning, we have been twiddling our thumbs.

“We are on the back foot but it’s not impossible and I will do everything I can to help.”

I wonder why Christian didn't follow the leader?

Now why did the Tories not offer it to the Tory gardener Rutland County Councillor
Gene Plews? Afterall he does live in Northamptonshire and hides the fact from voters.

Tories' Corby candidate Christine Emmett thinks her party's leadership does not know what it is doing

Northants Telegraph Conservative Christine Emmett The campaign started badly

Along with a terrible windswept  photograph outside her windmill house holding a Pound
showing as a Tory she knows the real value of money?

Christine Emmett has been selected by the Corby and East Northamptonshire Conservative Association to contest the by-election caused by the resignation of Louise Mensch.

The campaign started badly when the initial announcements described the seat up for grabs as Corby and North East Hants

The comment s are interesting. Reading Christine's press release about where she mentioned the importance of being local. I checked she lives 12 miles away from Corby.

A little further than the five miles she has to travel to her county ward Ketton in Rutland.

Conservative Party Co-Chairman, Sayeeda Warsi throwing her weight behind Christine Emmett has to be the kiss of death.

Please no election literature through my door, I'm bored already and the shredder is full.

Hooray - a local candidate who is on the 'approved' list. Good luck Ms Emmett, you're going to need it.

I imagine now the offer of a possible seat in Westminster has changed that view some 11 months on.

Christine Emmett Conservative Candidate For Corby Please Don't think all Tories as the same.

I love that Britain is multi-everything. And proud that every country in the world knows it. Only sorry some Tories don't see it that way.
Please don't think we are all same, that just wouldn't be fair....

Christine Emmett has today been selected by the Corby and East Northamptonshire Conservative Association to contest the by-election.

If I was voting in Corby I would not vote for Christine because she is a Tory and a Rutland County Councillor

Christine is of course one of a few Rutland County Councillors who has manners. Something lacking of many  Rutland Tories.

Christine lives in a Windmill Morcott Rutland LE15 9DQ  Tel: 01572 747000
As she takes her first steps into Corby I think she might be in for a surprise the problems in Corby are far greater than Rutland.
You only have to look the local paper, its not full of nice things like here
in Rutland

BMW smashed up and set alight in Corby

Magistrates show man caught with two knives no mercy

Police investigating cause of blaze at Corby school

County crackdown on alcohol-related violence

Then of course the biggest complaint in this area is Tory MP's are elected to be rarely seen working in their constituencies ever again.

If you don't believe me read the letters in  the Stamford Mercury...

Christine Emmett has a degree in Economics, and was a member of William Hague’s Northern Transport Commission, She also worked for Marks & Spencer and still dresses smartly in their outfits.
She does a lot for charity, she often raises cash by living on £1 a day that does not include the fuel to go out and by it or heat it. But it gives her an insight as to how the poor live.

I wish her luck, I did tell her she was to good for Rutland County Council.

She will have to work hard to catch the votes the bookies are not rating her chances.

Christine Emmett has today been selected by the Corby and East Northamptonshire Conservative Association to contest the by-election.

Conservative Party Candidate, Christine Emmett said:
"I feel truly honoured to have be selected as the Conservative candidate for Corby and North East Hants and I relish the chance to fight the upcoming by-election.

"I want to provide real local leadership, standing up for you and being a strong voice for our community in parliament.

"Local people want a local candidate who listens to them and knows how to get things done. I have experience across a number of sectors, having raised money for charity, worked with the health service and run my own business. I want to use my understanding and knowledge to represent the people of Corby and North East Hants.

"I will spend the next few weeks and months traveling around the constituency and listening to people like you. I want to know your view, your problems, your concerns so that I can best represent you and serve our community."

Conservative Party Co-Chairman, Sayeeda Warsi said:
"I am delighted to announce that Christine has been selected as the Conservative Party candidate for Corby and East Northamptonshire.

"Christine has real experience of the working world, and will be a leader for the local community, standing up for the entire constituency and working hard for its residents. By choosing a career politician as their candidate, Labour has shown that they are more concerned with keeping it in the family than truly representing the local people.

"I am looking forward to hitting the campaign trail in the coming weeks, knocking on doors with Christine and showing that the Conservative Party is on the side of hard working people."

Councillor  Christine Emmett (Conservative) Parliamentary Candidate Rutland County Councillor.

When I first met Christine Emmett, I thought she was too good for Rutland County Council and even more shocked to find she was a Rutland Tory. Her vocabulary and diction stretched further than your average Rutland Tory Thug.
She called me by name rather than Idiot or something worse.
I remember asking her at an event, had she ever worked for central government, she said no.
Now I hear she was in Downing Street as a hopeful Parliamentary candidate. Good luck Christine, You need to get out of Rutland before you turn into a typical Rutland Tory drunken old boot.

Please! if you are successful and become an MP try not to forget how you existed for two weeks on £1 a day for food. I and many others do that out of necessity living on basic benefits.
I spend £10 a week on food. I am pleased to hear your dog eats better than you did for the two weeks.

Christine raised £750 for charity.
