Rutland County Council has responded to my Freedom of Information request to find out which
Oakham Town Councillor knew about the £62,000 Hawksmead money that just appeared at
Oakham Town Council last year.
It is no surprise to find former Cllr Alf Dewis attended one of the first meetings
he was also a director and chairman of the Oakham Town Partnership.
The other is a former Chairman of Oakham Town Council Jayne Woodcock
who attended with her husband another former Chairman of Oakham Town Council.
By attending this meeting no Councillor has done anything wrong, what they
did wrong is they failed for some unknown reason to notify Oakham Town Council
and made decisions giving the impression to Rutland County Council that they
had the authority to make decisions and represent the council in the decision process
The minutes of this meeting confirm what Cllr Adam Lowe the current Chairman
of Oakham Town Council has said after he attended a meeting later in the year
He said he found Terry King and Alf Dewis and the partnership had already decided
how Oakham Town Councils money would be spent.
