Since Allan Grey wrote in the Rutland Times, he had found Confidential Rutland County Council Documents in Cutts Close Park, I keep a eye out for more, I was not expecting to find these this morning.

Since Allan Grey wrote in the Rutland Times, he had found Confidential Rutland County Council Documents in Cutts Close Park, I keep a eye out for more, I was not expecting to find these this morning.

At first I did not want anything to do with them, then I decided it would be good to take some photos.

Then I decided to send a message to a Lib dem Councillor. She messaged me back and said the election team was looking for them. She also said the postal votes had not yet been sent out. I assume the brown envelopes makes her think they are postal votes. Although she told me the postal votes had not yet been sent out.

When I returned to Church passage, what I had photographed had gone.

A RCC employee was looking around, she spoke to me and said the grass cutters who had just cut the grass had not seen anything.

A Conservative Cllr arrived and said the police had been called and suggested the bins should be checked.

Unusually one bin was empty, in another bin some ballot papers were found. I don't know if they are real. I have seen many thousands over the years and they certainly looked real.

The Conservative Cllr also said the postal votes had not been sent out.

The Council employee said they had been sent out. Apparently that is before the date shown on the election timetable.

It was confusing because not long before I had seen a former town councillor posting what looked like two postal votes at the  main post box this morning. So I assume the council employee is correct they have been sent out.

There was talk between the Cllr and employee that some one may claim election fraud.

Some one has since said they are fake, if that is true then they are good fakes. I wonder if  they were meant for Allan?

Crumbling footpath, turning dogs yellow, Preston to Uppingham, Rutland Times

Rutland Residents are unhappy, With Rutland County Councils, New Limestone Footpaths, Dogs are Turning Yellow, thanks to Lafarge

Rutland Residents are unhappy with Rutland County Councils, New Limestone Cycle Footpaths, Dogs are Turning Yellow, thanks to Lafarge.

"The yellow brick road from preston to uppingham, has turned sloppy" says one resident describing it as "runny poo"

After short walk dogs are turning yellow, boots and clothes are being ruined.

The paths  have been created as part of a £35 million 5 year contract awarded to
Lafarge Tarmac, they are using what is described as Limestone Grit a sustainable
product.

Concerns have been raised by a Rutland County Councillor since last October 2014

The new cycle footpath between Preston and Rutland is part of the councils
£700,000 scheme. It looks as if this path cost around £134,000

Oakham Festival 2014, Joy Everrit, Rutland Times, Oakham Town Council, Joyce Lucas

The Rutland Times have recycled a story from last year about the Oakham Festival.

This years Oakham Festival is cancelled.

Mrs Everitt told the Rutland Times

Joy Everritt left of the man with the Crutch then Tory Cllr Peter Jones

“It’s such a big music event and I feel it needs to be run by young blood with lots of energy who can take it forward. I’ve really enjoyed my time in organising it but I’ve decided I really need a bit of a break.”

It is a great shame the Festival organisers have not welcomed or held events for young people in recent years, one local volunteer ecpressed their frustration about this issue and claims any mention of youth was blocked by older committee members.

I am sure the exclusion of youth on the committee was fine when Oakham had a carnival.

Cllr Joyce Lucas The medievil look at Oakham Festival 2013

Oakham Town Councillor Joyce Lucas who sold her knitted dolls clothes from her OAP knit and gossip club at a historic themed festival day last year, became a committee member in the same year it is said she put the final nail in the coffin of the festival by causing friction amongst committee members.

Mrs Lucas was also responsible for the colaspe of the much enjoyed Oakham Carnival.

She attempted to organise a replacement fund raising concert in Cutts Close Oakham and this was cancelled because Councillors who voluntered to assist on the day "could not work under her dictatororial, egotistic leadership style"

Start of the last Oakham Carnival and Fun Day

Cllr Maureen Dodds went on to dispose of the carnival funds as she saw fit. Oakham Town Councils legal people said it could not claim back the public money lost, because they had handed it out with no conditions attached.

Cllr Maureen Dodds (left) lady in middle always receives
gifts and awards from Oakham Town Council despite the law
stating no single person can benefit from the precept, Cllr Joyce
Lucas purchased her a £400 glass bowl when she was Oakham
Mayor

The Oakham Festival still hold a substantial fund, some of which is public money. Fortunatley Mrs Everitt is a good honest person and has not given away any of these funds to people or organisations she personally likes.

Mrs Everitt says: The accounts for the festival are being kept open and the committee is keen for the festival to run next year.

Joy Everritt (left)

I have been told the Oakham Festival will not return, so  maybe the committee should meet one last time to decided to wind up the festival and how to best spend the public money, possibly? supporting Arts projects in Oakham. I think money should only be returned to  Oakham Town Council as a last resort because they will only squander it on ugly hanging baskets.

Mrs Everritt has battled hard over many years for the arts in Oakham, there were a few awful costly events

The hideous costly, enviroment damaging Hippo's

The depressing Christmas Art Installation at Oakham Castle Titled a Winter Wonderland based on death at Christmas.

The 'costly short performance' of the Four Winds Festival. which attract critism from local letter writers.

3 terrible projects out of so many good ones throughout the last 14 years + is not so bad.

I am not sure how much is involved with the coslty performance to be held at St George's Barracks this summer, described as dubious by Oakham Town Councillor Alf Dewis. Not forgetting the Arts4Rutland Committees own minutes of which she is a member that stated it would exagerate expected attendance figure to obtain Arts Council Funding. Interestingly I sent a copy of those minutes to the regional Arts Council who ignored my letter and granted funding which included a copy of the minutes. The regional Chairman of the Arts Council is The Conservative Leader of Rutland County Council Roger Begy.

Rutland Times, It's very hard to see they have six reporters?

This weeks issue of the Rutland Times has to be the worst I have ever seen.

Six paid reporters who have handed over the reporting to local councillors and their friends.

The conviction of a local woman who stabbed a man.
sees another repeat of the original story worse than BBC
repeats now published with the addition of the womans jail term.

Then Cllr Lucas gets a repeat word for word of her December fundraising with
the addition of the amount raised. What is the  Editor doing?

Then we are treated to a very informative article from another Councillor all about
the Central England Co-op Elections. I am not sure any one can move as quick as
he suggests nominations closed 14th March 2014

Could we not be treated to some real local news, For example the old man who
fell down the stairs of his Oakham home, taken to hospital and concerned about his dog
was told it will be ok by Leicestershire Police. Two day later the dog was crapping all
over the poor mans kitchen Leicestershire Police broke into his home to rescue the
dog. They failed to secure his home corrrectly and the poor man returned home
tom find his house ransacked and many items including his TV stolen. Police have
written very quickly and told the man they have concluded their investigation into the burglary
and this has led to nothing.

He can't afford to replace all the items lost.

UKIP Rutland, Rutland County Council & Leicestershire Police Corruption "It Stinks" New Banner

Members of the public have contacted the Rutland Times to ask why UKIP Rutland County Councillors
are staging their long term protest on Oakham High Street and why has the paper not given the protest
any coverage.

The UKIP Councillors have been contacted by the Rutland Times and told send in your photos and
story!

Why does the Johnston Press employ reporters locally who describe themselves as seniour journalists on Twitter?

When you look at the savage destruction of the local press by the Johnston Press, you would think anyone who is still employed by The Johnston Press and describes themself in that way would get of their arse and write some good column inches and not give the parent company any excuse to get rid of them.

Or perhaps Roger Begy, Briggs and Co have made a new friend at the paper?

Rutland Times, Relaunched as The Peoples Paper, At least Johnston Press have not closed it yet...

The Rutland Times no longer employs photographers
or professional journalists. It is relaunching as the
peoples paper, members of the public are asked to
contribute their own stories and then pay to read
them.

I wonder if that is the end of the Town Councillors
column? allowing my favourite town councillor plenty
space for stories and preaching.

Rutland Times, Martin Brookes, cleared of stalking Homophobic Cllr Charles Haworth & Rutland County Council CEO Helen Briggs

The Rutland Times front page story, brings Oakham Town Council into disrepute.

The story shows the authority to be made up of Homphobic, Racist bullies.

Although I am gay and can no longer be described as youthful, I have suffered Homophobia on
and off since my youth,

I had suffered nothing as bad I do from 2008 to this present day thanks to rapacious Oakham Town Council, Rutland County Council and Leicestershire Police.

Earlier this week I communicated with Oakham Mayor Adam Lowe and asked
if he would be writing a letter to The Rutland  Times distancing his council from
Homphobic Bullying? his response was "no"

Maybe he and his good wife will pop on a purple dress at his charity tea dance this afternoon at Victoria Hall

Rutland County Council agreed to cover the legal costs of officers who may want to sue three UKIP councillors for defamation, Rutland Times

UKIP Cllr's Gale and Richardson Left, (Rutland Radio News Reported
they did not attend? They of course did walk out)

Good to see Tory Councillor Parsons is still sponsored by Diet Coke (middle)
For most Tories like Parsons the basic Councillors rules don't apply.

Published on 30/07/2013 13:31

A council has agreed to cover the legal costs of officers who may want to sue three councillors for defamation.

At a special meeting last night (Monday) Rutland County Council voted to grant an indemnity to support the council’s #### ##### and officers to take legal action in their own name for defamation against Coun Richard Gale, Coun Dave Richardson and Coun Nick Wainwright, of the Rutland Group of the United Kingdom Independence Party.

The council esimates the cost of any case could be about £150,000. If any officer proceeds with legal action against the group and wins the case, any costs incurred by the council would be recovered. Damages would be awarded to the officer taking the action.

The council was considering suing the members itself earlier this year however the Minister of Justice later said authorities could not sue for defamation.

According to a monitoring officer’s report, which was discussed at the meeting on Monday, the allegations made by the three councillors on their website 4Rutland were “seriously defamatory of officers”. The allegations have now been removed from the website.

Rutland County Council leader Roger Begy (Con) told the meeting the accusations were damaging and no evidence had been offered.

He said: “We’ve got to protect our officers. They are doing a first class job and it is unfair that their future employment is at risk because of these allegations.”

He added: “We will do our best to make sure expenditure is controlled and limited but it is our duty to protect our staff.”

The recommendation by the monitoring officer to support officers wishing to take legal action was approved by 16 councillors at the meeting. Coun Alan Walters (Ind) voted against as he was concered about the cost and Coun Gene Plews (Ind) abstained.

Coun Wainwright did not attend the meeting and Coun Gale and Coun Richardson left the meeting shortly after it started and before the debate began.

In January, councillors voted to support officers wishing to take legal action in their own name for harassment by the same three councillors when they were members of the now defunct Rutland Anti-Corruption Group. The council says the legal bill for that case is £42,000 so far.

Its Good to see the Langham Blogger is back, Rutland Times, Rutland County Council, Leicestershire Police

Its Good to see the Langham Blogger is back.

Lets hope DS McDonalds mob don't go knocking on their door.

Every day I find it hard to find anyone who is happy with our rotten County Council.

Many people won't speak out often referring to the shit way those connected to local governance will treat them.

As I await my trial to be silenced, I also wait for the news of the pending arrests of three Rutland County Councillors.

A friend of mine has recently successfully obtained a ruling from the IPCC stating Leicestershire Police
have discriminated against them. Interestingly some of the officers named I have had dealings with.
Since 2009 Leicestershire Police have treated me in the same discriminatory way. DS McDonald says
the past does not matter, well it does, under the supervision of Inspector Monks evidence of homophobic hate crimes were binned. DS McDonald tells me the CPS will not being charging the Town Councillor who has harassed me since 2009, That is just as disgusting as the conduct of that Councillor.

The useless local press now know the ID of that depraved Councillor, The information became public knowledge in court. What do they do with that info? nothing. Its no surprise when you look at the attitude
of the staff the paper employs. I remember talking to a now ex employee, who Tweeted thanks to the Tory leader of Rutland County Council for their support. She described one of the Councillors other filthy blogs as
creative. It was a homophobic attack that said I molested vicars contained photographs of the local vicars and members of the community. It was no surprise to see her creeping to Inspector Kam Mistry via twitter last week.

I fully agree with the comments made by Roy about are local press, I have many times told the Rutland Times people are sick and tired of reading press releases from the councils. I even mentioned it whilst waiting
to go into court. The reporter said the councils send us so many, I ask what is the editor doing, allowing their  rubbish to be published week after week?

It has been suggested the archives are researched and I should count how many times Cllr Joyce Lucas
gets a mention in the paper, maybe just this year only? I won't waste my time, all I can say is I don't think a
week goes by without at least two mentions, rather a lot for someone who does not like public attention?

Rutland Free Press?

Having sat through a recent annual parish council meeting where there was a lot of discussion about the underhand tactics of Rutland Council and so many than negative comments about the Councillors and their behaviour, it will come as no surprise that the local press got their fair share of bashing.

undefined

They were acused of being in the pay of the County Council, following the company line as it were, and only posting good news stories and avoiding the issues that really matter to the people of Rutland. It would seem people feel they aren't interested is getting to the bottom of what is going on in the county or questioning those in power. It clear their idea of investigative journalism to read the County Councils press releases.

It is clear that not all what is made out to be in the County Council, things aren't what they seem. It is like a smoke screen has been laid and what goes on is hidden from the public view. Only a few trust them and those that do support them and keep them in power, but that isn't the majority but just the selected few that can be bothered to vote. Most people feel they just do what they want and don't listen, so they don't vote. This felling of not listening ;has spread to the local press who are seen as weak and feeble, never questioning and printing Council press releases as good news stories.

For example, when the all powerful Rutland County Council when decided to rename the old Ashwell prison as the Oakham Enterprise Park, where was the story that people of Ashwell objected to the name on the grounds it is actually in Ashwell? Another example would be all the good news stories about the Hawksmead development and how people supported it, where was the story about the people of Barlythorpe who never wanted their lovely village to become a suburb of Oakham? If it was ever published than I'm sure it wasn't big as the good news Hawksmead stories and the pictures of handshakes between councillors and company officials.

It is about time the local press in Rutland got some courage and spent sometime questioning what Rutland Country Council are doing before it is too late. Rather than sitting around reading press releases, go round the county and ask people what they really think then publish their stories with the same degree or importance. Publish the letters of the people of Rutland and not the political rubbish written into the paper by the councillors.

And, finally the reason why this is important now, well Hawksmead are planning to develop North of the ring road. This will not only destroy more land that was used for farming but it will threaten other villages close to Oakham. Let me tell the people from the Rutland Times and the Rutland and Stamford Mercury now, we don't want the nature villages destroyed by Hawksmead and their friends at the Rutland County Council. Come talk us and see the depth of our feelings rather than listening to what comes out of Rutland County Council.

Rutland County is Lacking Proper Debate, Cllr King and Roger Begy Road Show, Rutland Times

County is Lacking Proper Debate, Cllr King and Roger Begy Road Show, Rutland Times

Will this letter writer be the next victim of the local Tory Trash, Bullying, Thick, Thugs all supported by
Leicestershire Police?

The second letter makes me laugh its from an Oakham Town Councillor who spent thousands on gazebo's,
they can not be named here for legal reasons, but I will say they have an unhealthy interests in carrots and bums. They went to great lengths to convince the other councillors "these gazebos were easy to put up anyone can" they said. Justifying the excessive cost.  But as you can see according to their own letter, not easy for Councillors.

Leveson Vote, Eileen Green, Rutland Times, Rutland Mercury, Editor

I could not help smiling  when reading the  Rutland Times  Editors comment.

By Eileen Green

Has Ms Green not read her own paper, often filled with page after page of press releases from
Rutland County Council, Oakham  Town Council and many other public figures connected to
local governance?

And not forgetting our charmer, Alan Ducan MP

This is the same paper that gave him front page coverage trashing The Rutland Anti Corruption Party.

Then refused the three members space to respond by insisting the editor, edited their letters.

She harps on about freedom of expression and free press?

Last week I  watched a documentary which clearly showed the press had no freedom when
it came to the publishing articles relating to the Wallace Simpson affair, the rest of the world
was reading about it many months before and I believe all that happened within the 300 years of British
Press Freedom?

Johnston Press is the parent company that is destroying democracy and the freedom of expression  that she
eludes to.  It has killed off hundreds of local titles.

Kate Adie, once said to me the death of the local press will have a huge impact on local democracy.

The Rutland Times under the ownership of the Johnston Press has killed of democracy here in Rutland.

I am sure Pleasing the local Tories who win their seats mainly unopposed.

Whilst on the subject of elections this editor who talks of democracy and freedom of expression
refused to publish any candidates statements at the last County Council election.

But the public has to endure the patronising dribble dished out by Oakham Town Councillor Joyce Lucas,
and propaganda from our Tory MP.

And then they wonder why sales are so low they have to close the Rutland Times Office.

Editor’s comment: On the eve of the Leveson vote

On Monday 18 March, the House of Commons is due to vote on whether to impose statutory regulation on our free press. At a stroke it would break with 300 years of tradition.

In this special comment, we argue that in a civilised democracy this is entirely the wrong approach.
“I detest what you say; I will defend to the death your right to say it,” Voltaire is famously said to have uttered.

George Orwell borrowed the line in his proposed preface to Animal Farm, entitled the Freedom of the Press. He concluded by adding his own version of it: “If liberty means anything at all it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.”

Britain, with one or two notable exceptions in history, has avoided civil war and public unrest because at the heart of its democracy has been a free speech embodied in a free press.

Indeed for 300 years Parliament has not sought to shackle our newspapers and magazines in any way, save through Draconian defamation laws and to a lesser extent Contempt of Court legislation. But on Monday March 18, all that is likely to change.

In the wake of the phone hacking scandal and the subsequent Leveson inquiry, Parliament seems determined to overturn centuries of freedom in a knee-jerk reaction to the alleged illegal activities of one or two national tabloid newspapers.

There can be no greater self-inflicted attack on our prized democracy in my view.
Of course, no-one condones phone-hacking and the appalling impact it had on its victims.
But laws already existed to deal with such illegal behaviour. The issue there was a lack of enforcement not a deficit of statute.

Quite apart from this, the vast majority of the British media - most notably its 1,100 local and regional newspapers - have always behaved honourably. They have policed themselves effectively and efficiently through the Press Complaints Commission and have rigorously enforced their own Code of Conduct.
This newspaper and its parent company Johnston Press, for example, have been committed to the PCC from the outset - enshrined in the contracts of employment of all its journalists.

But the new proposals which will effect equally the smallest local weekly to the largest national daily will ultimately bring with them such horrific bureaucracy that there is a real risk that many editors will be submerged. Ultimately, anything contentious or remotely investigative will be open to such widespread challenge that our papers will be anaemic - packed with government-inspired press handouts.
Do we really want Britain to emulate the worst and most corrupt of the world’s tinpot juntas?
A free press, with all its many faults, has done more to keep democracy alive than any other force.
If the media is to perform its function it must be entirely independent of statute. Of course it will make mistakes; inevitably it will cause upset. But its strength comes from these inherent potential failings. We must trust the public to reach their own conclusions and to have a voice. If we do not we will lose much that defines us as civilised.

In the wake of Leveson the newspaper industry itself has proposed a new, tough independent regulatory process - which goes far beyond the requirements of 90 per cent of our media.
Yet still the House of Commons seems determined enact statute to eventually influence every aspect of our operations.

The Prime Minister David Cameron has displayed remarkable courage in standing up for free speech but it seems unlikely he will prevail on Monday evening. The Lib Dems - historically staunch defenders of civil liberties and individual freedoms and rights - seem set to join forces with Labour in appeasing a small but vocal minority.

But the papers that will pay the price will be the trusted small weekly titles the length and breadth of Britain. Titles like this newspaper - which are already seeking to navigate through the perfect storm of digital competition, recession, and rising production costs.

Meanwhile an unregulated social media and offshore digital media are free to publish whatever they wish - with none of the checks on accuracy, balance, or good taste that your local paper has enforced for decades. And with none of its accountability either.

If you care about freedom of the press it is still not too late to act you can email your MP before Monday night’s vote.

It is not our place to ask MPs to vote in our interests, they will do what they feel is right but it is important that legislation which is drafted in the wake of misdemeanours by national papers is not allowed to impact papers which have never and would never engage in such practices. Let the law run its course against those who are proven to have broken it.

And one final thought... how do we know about the phone hacking scandal? How was it pushed into the public spotlight? By a newspaper of course - principally the Guardian - perhaps the most successful illustration of industry self regulation there has been.

Cllr Alf Dewis, Oakham Mayor, Sainsbury's Planning, Rutland Times, Letters

Another letter in the Rutland Times this week from our unelected Mayor
and Town Councillor Alf Dewis regarding Sainsbury

He keeps turning to the paper and radio and claims to speak for all
Town Councillors.

I like the reporter from the Rutland Times sat in at the meeting and reported
more than one reason why the Town Council rejected the application.

He keeps harping on about traffic issues as if that was just one reason for the
rejection.

The town Council does not represent the people of Oakham as he claims
in his letter it represents itself and a few of the respectful old guard. (thugs)

The Sainsbury decision has upset them.

Like the leader of Rutland County Council, Cllr Dewis is very good at
getting his friends to write letters of support for him. All pretending to
be independent members of our community. For example last weeks
letter of support came from Carol Beech the wife of former Mayor
Paul Beech who has just been fined £80 for his dignified conduct on
Remembrance Sunday.

The Rutland Times suffers from loss of readers due to the endless
contributions from this mob.

I wonder what the Mayor means when he invites someone to attend
all the meetings who is interested in the town and to listen to the debate.

I attend every meeting, as for debate the council does not know the
meaning of debate. If they do then that is conducted behind closed
doors in what they call a pre meeting briefing.

I spoke this week to members of the public asking if they read the local
paper, they all replied no, because it appears to provide sole entertainment
to those connected to the council, it was also interesting to hear people still
thinking the town and county council are one of the same.

People said they are fed up with their letters and press releases and
like me they want to see real news content and not turn every one
of the few pages to see a contributions or connections to the councils.
