Cllr Alan Walters Stepping Down From Oakham Town Council
Cllr Alan Walters who was co-opted onto the council last September has
said he will not be standing for town council elections. A great shame
as I thought he would be overseeing the council's move to Princess Avenue
and the creation of a community hub, if he were re-elected.
He will be standing for election as a county councillor. I think
he has done well.
I can sort of understand why he does not want to return to Oakham Town
Council, I am not looking forward to repeat of their past antics.
Today I delivered my completed nomination pack.
Oakham Town Councils old guard are attempting to fix the outcome
of the election.
I have been told Councillors in the North Wards of Oakham have
told prospective candidates not to stand in those wards. I must
point out Cllr Alan Walters was not the Councillor named. I don't
think I have to name the Councillors involved on here, people who
follow my blog will know who they are.
