Ronnie Corbett CBE Rest in Peace

Four Candles

Ronald Balfour "Ronnie" Corbett, CBE (4 December 1930 – 31 March 2016) was a Scottish stand-up comedian, actor, writer, broadcaster, and comedian, best known for his long association with Ronnie Barker in The Two Ronnies.

50 and 10 Years

My blog will go quiet very soon for a few days, I have to leave Oakham and visit
family to celebrate my 50th Birthday.

Also Ten Years Ago I moved to Oakham.

As I read  letters in the local paper when I first moved here, little did I know
how some of those names would have such an miserable impact upon my life
here in Oakham. Since the first letter below was written by Helen Briggs CEO
of Rutland County Council in January 2007 the star system vanished its
not possible to issue a council department minus stars.

I have never forgotten her unfortunate quote in the National Press, Twenty Years of Rutland Independence, 10 years on chief executive Helen Briggs enthused, "We are lean and mean,"
(The Guardian)

Politics in Rutland is certainly befitting of her description of here in Rutland.

I had to write and respond to Councillor Richardson's letter in last week's Rutland Times.
I have been at Rutland (County Council] for just over three months. In that time I have had an opportunity to spend time with many of the staff who work for the council.
Without exception I have met hard working individuals and teams committed to providing high quality
services for Rutland. People committed to the public sector and public service.
Staff regularly 'go the extra mile', above and beyond the call of duty – long hours, evening meetings and continuing challenges to their work, life balance. Certainly not a luxurious lifestyle!
Performance speaks for itself – Rutland is a two-star council working with an ambitious improvement agenda. Just recently a number of services have been praised by independent inspectors – the foster care service, the benefits service (4 star excellent), adoption service, adult social care and the children's service.
It is council staff who deliver these services.
Underpinning this is the judgement issued by the Audit Commission that this council offers 'good value for money'.
Rutland County Council and its staff have worked hard to deliver services that are high quality value for money. We will continue to do so in the future and I would ask the community to recognise this dedication.
Helen Briggs
Chief Executive
Rutland County Council

Since Mrs Briggs wrote this letter she has been responsible for the destruction
of that team of staff. Working at Rutland Rutland County Council has driven
many to drink and even suicide.

Residents in the care of the council have died from dehydration and
starvation.

Ex Mayor Alf Dewis town partnership member former Chair
a position held for many years.

The money should have been sent to the Oakham Town Partnership to fund a
Town Centre Manager.

Apart for the apparent failing of financial control at Rutland County Council,
I believe this is funding is a total waste of money. The previous manager employed
some years ago run around town like a headless chicken annoying retailers.

The person who is employed are normally quite friendly with the old guard.

The previous town centre manager was often seen sitting in the Whipper with the old drinking on duty at events.

It does concern me when I look at the town partnership set up, as a limited company
it does not have to be accountable for the public money it often receives.

It also concerns me that whilst Alf Dewis was Chairman of Oakham Town Council
the Partnership received £1000 unlawfully from Oakham Tax Payers.

The partnership is not democratic and does not carry out the role expected of a
Town Partnership.

Alf Dewis sat in the chair for a number of years, I believe like Oakham Town Council
he is responsible for the Partnership Failings, You only have to look to Melton to see
what the partnership should be doing.

Fortunately in this case Rutland County Council has sent the money to an
organisation that is likely to return it to them.

Jason Zadrozny announced his intention to run for police and crime commissioner outside Mansfield Magistrates Court

Jason Zadrozny announced his intention to run for police and crime commissioner outside Mansfield Magistrates Court

The BBC report:

'Sex charges' councillor Jason Zadrozny wants to be PCC

Jason Zadrozny, who is also a district and county councillor, made the announcement after denying the alleged sex offences in court.

The 10 charges range from rape to indecent assault and are alleged to have happened between 2003 and 2006.

Mr Zadrozny, 35, of Sutton Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, became the youngest council leader in England in 2007.

He is currently an independent councillor on Ashfield District and Nottinghamshire County councils.
He stood for the Liberal Democrats in Ashfield in the 2010 general election, and was selected to fight the same seat in 2015.

However, the party suspended him after his arrest over the child sex allegations.

Mr Zadrozny said the allegations were a "politically-motivated attack".
"They're absolutely the work of fantasy and that will be borne out," he said.
"I'm looking forward to my day in crown court.

"I don't want this to be dropped, I want to prove that I'm innocent, not that there's not enough evidence, and that I've had my life ruined and plenty of people's careers ruined by Nottinghamshire Police following such spurious allegations."

The charges in full:

Three counts of rape of a male under the age of 16 and four counts of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 16 between 2 September 2003 and 30 April 2004

Three counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a boy aged 13 to 15 between 1 May 2004 and 30 September 2006

He said he wants to run for police and crime commissioner because "somebody needs to clean up Nottinghamshire Police".
Nottinghamshire's current police and crime commissioner is Paddy Tipping, a former Labour MP.
The police force said it would not be appropriate to comment at this stage.

Mr Zadrozny's lawyer told Mansfield Magistrates Court his client "vehemently denies the allegations".

District Judge Jonathan Taaffe granted Mr Zadrozny bail and he will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 27 April.
Nottinghamshire County Council said that due to changes to the Localism Act 2011, it no longer had the power to suspended councillors.

Therefore Mr Zadrozny will not be disqualified from his role unless he is later found guilty and sentenced to a jail term of three months or more, or given a suspended sentence.

If this man is innocent and Nottingham Police are political corrupt
they will have something in common with Leicestershire Police.

Leicestershire Police arrested me before my election for Rutland County
Council and even banned me from attending my own election account.
I lost the election and was found not guilty after a very costly five trial
something some people connected to Oakham Town Council can never
accept, It is a shame the case was never properly covered by the media
because people would have learnt more of the disgusting conduct of
these people in court and out of court.
