Kavanagh's Tea Room Staff Clean Oakham With Pride,
The staff and owners of Kavanagh's have noticed like so many
of us Rutland County Councils Contractors don't clean our town
up as well as it should do.
Kavanagh's have decided it is pointless asking Rutland County
Council to sort it out, they have taken on the task of keeping
the Old Butter Cross, Road and Pavements near their tea room
clear of litter.
Yesterday staff volunteered to clean up thousands of cigarette
ends from under the Butter Cross.
I often see Royal Mail staff using this area for smoking.
I hope they don't discard their cigarette ends here?
Kavanagh's staff , washed the stones removing
whatever the White Cider drinkers of our community leave behind.
The owner of Kavanagh's said "we should all take pride in the
town where we live and work in" she added she was prompted to
take action after seeing visitors to the town with small children
sitting by the stocks for photographs, surrounded by the dirt.
Oakham wines is another retailer who carries out a daily battle
against litter outside his store.

Rutland County Council Consultation on Cuts, Oakham Hopper Bus Service
Rutland County Council Consultation on Cuts, Oakham Hopper Bus Service
Rutland County Council is proposing cuts to the Oakham Hopper bus, taking account of passenger usage and making the service more sustainable.
The Oakham Hopper currently runs from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday, completing a loop of the town with stops at Tesco, Co-op and near to Rutland Memorial Hospital.
Following a thorough review which looked at when and how the service is used, the Council is proposing to operate a revised Hopper route and timetable which would run between 9.30am and 3.30pm, Monday to Saturday, with the addition of several new stops.
View full details of the Oakham Hopper Timetable that is being proposed. If approved the changes would come into effect from Tuesday 29th August 2017.
“The Oakham Hopper is currently run by Centrebus with support from the Council. We know from our recent review that passenger numbers fluctuate considerably throughout the course of the day and that some journeys are much less popular than others. As a result, the Council is proposing an alternative timetable that would keep the Oakham Hopper on the road when we know demand is highest, making the service more sustainable.”
Councillor Tony Mathias, Portfolio Holder for Transport

Passengers who use the Oakham Hopper service are currently being invited to share any comments or feedback on these proposals as part of a three-week public consultation.
Responses must be submitted to the Council in writing by 14th July. Feedback can be emailed to: transport@rutland.gov.uk or sent through the post to: Rutland County Council, Catmose, Oakham, Rutland LE15 6HP.
“After careful consideration, we believe this is right approach to take to create a more sustainable Oakham Hopper Service that can continue to meet the needs of local residents. It’s important that people now share their views on the revised timetable, so we can take this feedback into consideration.”

Can you help Leicestershire Police identify these two people after windows were damaged in Oakham
LEICESTERSHIRE POLICE HAVE NOW FOUND THESE PEOPLE
Sometime between 1.30am and 1.50am on Friday 16 June three ground floor windows of a property in Barleythorpe Road were smashed.
We’d like to speak to these two people as they may be able to assist with our enquiries. If this is you or if you recognise them please contact us.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1312 Joe Lloyd on 101, quoting crime number 17*254744.
Could this be an attack for the former deputy mayors homophobic and
racists conduct.
I zoomed in on the image of the lady on the crossing and I thought that
could be a man.
Then I received this message from a member of the public:
"The lady maybe a man I know there is s man who has a blonde wig like that and hr likes to dress as a woman"
