Council Leader Roger Begy says: “The big decision we are facing this year is whether to accept the council tax freeze grant on offer from central government.  Accepting the grant would result in no change to council tax this year, but bigger increases in the years that follow.  Not accepting the grant would mean steady (and lower) increases during the next four years.”

Roger Begy added, “I’d encourage anybody who is interested in finding out more to visit one of the roadshow events where they will be able to speak with senior officers and members of Cabinet”.
Cabinet will discuss the 2012/13 budget at their meeting on Tuesday 7 February 2012.  All 26 Councillors will then make the final decision at the meeting of Full Council taking place on Monday 27 February 2012.
