Roads closed in Leicester city centre due to second large factory fire

Police have closed roads in Leicester city centre whilst fire officers tackle a second large factory fire today.
Officers attended the scene of the Corah’s building on St. John Street, Leicester, after the fire was reported at around 7.20pm this evening (Saturday April 21).

In the interests of safety, roads in the area have been closed to traffic.  These include St. John Street, Watling Street, Friday Street, Canning Street, Yarmouth Street and Grafton Place.  Pedestrian access to Burleys Way is also restricted.

Local residents and businesses in the area are advised to keep their doors and windows closed, due to thick smoke and ash emanating from the fire.

The road closures are expected to stay in place for some time.  Members of the public are being advised to avoid the area unless absolutely necessary.
At this stage the cause of the fire is unknown.
