A Very Dirty Cutts Close Oakham The Day Before Green Flag Judges Arrive
The Fair departed Cutts Close Today
Shoppers, Visitors and Oakham School Pupils found it difficult to keep there shoes clean today
Its rained before, but I can never recall Cutts Close looking in such a state after a fair, circus or
event had departed.
I think it beats the four or pile piles of Horse Poo left behind by the Cottesmore Hunt at Christmas
that annoyed the Mayor Councillor so much she raised the issue at a full council meeting and
it was decided a letter would be sent to the Hunt telling them to go elsewhere this year in a tactful way.
I wonder what sort of letter will be sent to the fair owners.
I don't blame the fair owners I blame Oakham Town Council for many failures.
The Clerk says its the councils job to collect the tax payers money and spend. The letting of Cutts Close is a cash bonus. Letting is permitted with little or no conditions as long as the Council receive a few pounds.
The Hunt can easily be disguarded because they don't pay.
Other councils like Stamford make fairs put down protective sheets and temporary roads.
Other councils carry out safety check on rides.
Does Oakham Town Council? No, it is happy to take the cash.
The fair attempted to fill holes by digging soil from the edge of Cutts Close.
I Understand the fair were not happy with this years attendance, they cut the price of rides by 50% and that failed to improve things.
It is Green Flag Judging day tomorrow I hope they bring their boots.and they can turn a blind eye to the mess. Otherwise Oakham Town Council is going to be stuck with a Flag Pole it purchased before planning permission has been considered. I suppose they could fly their faded town flag from it.
