Appeal for witnesses after altercation in an Oakham pub


Officers investigating an altercation in an Oakham pub at the weekend are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The incident took place at about 1.10am on Saturday (June 16) at a pub in Church Street when a 20-year-old man was assaulted and received minor injuries.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC Bryan Sladen is investigating the incident, he said:  “The altercation took place in the pub and there were a number of people in the premises at the time, we would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it to contact us.

“We would especially like to speak to anyone who may have been in the premises but hasn’t yet spoken with the police.  Any calls received will be treated in confidence.”
