Music in Quiet Places - Florin Ensemble |
Thursday 28 June 7.30pm St Andrew’s Church, West Deeping Florin Ensemble Charles Mutter violin Alistair Scahill viola Catherine Rimer cello Schubert Trio in B flat D.471 Beethoven Duo for viola and cello (Eyeglasses) Francaix String Trio in C Beethoven Serenade in D op.8 A perfect summer evening programme, from playful music by Beethoven to Francaix’s neo-classical trio performed by three leading string players. The members of Florin Ensemble have strong chamber music backgrounds as well having diverse professional lives: Charles as associate leader of the BBC Concert Orchestra, Alistair as one of London’s top freelance viola players and Catherine as guest continuo with leading ‘period’ orchestras. Drawing together these varied influences, Florin creates thought-provoking interpretations with a distinctive sense of common musicianship. St Andrew’s enjoys an idyllic position in meadows beside a mill race in the River Welland. Multicoloured Victorian tiles in the chancel contrast with the mellow stonework of the nave. There is a notable early 14th century octagonal font and, the church’s crowning glory, a magnificent chandelier dated 1770. Local Tickets: The Red Lion |
