Oakham Town Council tonight decided to exclude the public and press this evening when they decided the future tenant for the publicly owned property.
At the end of the meeting the Chairman Cllr Alf Dewis said the council had agreed to repair and refurbish the property. Meaning a commercial company will benefit as the tax payer will foots the bill.
Cllr Dewis would not give any further details.
A source later told me the Council had agreed to kick out the committee members who were granted a temporary three month lease. They are expected to be out by the end of July.
The new tenants will pay around £9,000
They are currently renting in Long Row. They currently run a ladies only gym there.
I did ask at deputations, why the council had ignored a previous resolution to refurbish and then place the
property on the open market?
No answer was given
