theft of four large sluice gates were stolen from the River Derwent Derbyshire

Between 18 and 22 May a theft of four large sluice gates were stolen from the River Derwent between the new A6 bypass and the rear of the Celanese Plant, Spondon. CR/22508/12. This location is a remote area of the City, but dog walkers or those who like to walk may have passed by this location during the relevant times.

These gates weigh between 8 and 9 tonnes, and it’s believed that they will be weighed in as scrap metal.

The cost to replace these gates maybe in the region of £10k plus and this would have taken time, equipment and suspects to remove these items.

If you have any information or details of suspects to assist the Police with their enquiries please contact Pc 2679 Brendan Lockett at Cotton Lane Police Station on 101
