theft of four large sluice gates were stolen from the River Derwent Derbyshire

Between 18 and 22 May a theft of four large sluice gates were stolen from the River Derwent between the new A6 bypass and the rear of the Celanese Plant, Spondon. CR/22508/12. This location is a remote area of the City, but dog walkers or those who like to walk may have passed by this location during the relevant times.

These gates weigh between 8 and 9 tonnes, and it’s believed that they will be weighed in as scrap metal.

The cost to replace these gates maybe in the region of £10k plus and this would have taken time, equipment and suspects to remove these items.
