Action is being taken against an Aylesbury taxi and private hire
company after vehicles believed to be licensed by another council were
found displaying the same name.
Aylesbury Vale District
Council (AVDC) says action is ongoing against Call a Cab after the
authority was made aware of private hire vehicles licensed by Rutland
County Council being used in the Aylesbury Vale district.
The law
does not permit AVDC to take action against vehicles and drivers
licensed by another authority, and as a result any irregularities
relating to these vehicles have been reported to Rutland County Council.
But
AVDC licensing manager Peter Seal said: “These vehicles, however are
displaying the name Call A Cab, a company licensed by AVDC.
“As a consequence we are taking action against Call A Cab, which is ongoing.
“AVDC
and the taxi trade have worked long and hard in raising standards in
Aylesbury and the use of vehicles licensed elsewhere undermines the good
work achieved.”
Call a Cab in Aylesbury declined to comment.
A
statement from Rutland County Council said: “Rutland County Council is
satisfied that the conditions of its licensing requirements have been
complied with by S A Private Hire, who run the ‘Call-a-Cab’ business
from a site in Rutland.”
