Tor Clark is Principal Lecturer in Journalism at De Montfort University in Leicester and the former Editor of the Rutland & Stamford Mercury and the Harborough & Lutterworth Mail, sister papers of the Melton Times,  wrote about his thoughts on Lord Justice Leveson enquiry for The Melton Times


THE evidence has been gathered and now we await the verdict of Lord Justice Leveson on the British press. Over many months we have heard much of the misdeeds of the press and their dodgy relationships with politicians and the police.

Despite the justifications offered by some tabloid editors in court, it’s hard to have a lot of sympathy for the journalists at the gutter end of the national tabloid press. The worst of what they were doing was wrong and action needs to be taken to prevent it happening again. No-one would disagree with most of that, but the question of how and who to punish is much more difficult.  Click Here To Read More...
