Review of Oakham's newest cheap booze outlet is not looking good.
A review writer on Oakham People site claims to witness "several girls out of it and being sick on the floor"
also referring to another bar apparently owned by the same company they say : "They are both run extremely badley and run by 'children'."
They then say: It amazes me how Oakham's youth seem to now dominate Oakham's nightlife, most of whom are under the legal drinking limit.
I don't agree with that last comment the local police, supported by a pretty useless police inspector are often out checking that bars are not breaking laws and all appear to have door staff who check ID unlike some of the bars more suited to the author. Which are often frequented by old farts who drink themselves stupid and stagger who pissing in the occasional door way. Once home they often crack open a few more bottles and troll the net boasting about cracking of the next bottle of Cider or Wine.
To me the author of this review sounds very bitter, I wonder why?
I remember our Mayor Cllr Dewis making similar comments about one of these establishments at
a council meeting not long ago.
Perhaps its ex Mayor Jim Harrison? who writes using different names on the site.
He has often been critical of Oakham's night life, although he makes a living from it driving
home the product of the night life in his taxi.
It is interesting they to see the describe the manager Jonathan Spencer as a child.
I guess his mother ex Mayor Sharon Spencer might still look at him as her child.
The author could be CW as previous posts support his favourite off licence and his current employer.
As a previous employee of Clays he has always shown a bitter side towards the new owners. but then looking at videos on you tube of his pole dancing and drunken holidays abroad filmed over ten years ago
I can't imagine he would be so critical of today's youth.
It is most annoying these local critics are permitted to cowardly comment in this anonymous way.

Oakham People review:
As the name suggests bottles are served and no draft lagers or ciders
are available. It seems to be a place where you can drink as much as
you like at knock down prices with no thought by the owners on the
consequences. I witnessed serveral girls out of it and being sick on
the floor. Take a look at the prices in this photo. If I hear anyone
from the council or local residents complaining about noise and anti
social behaviour – I'm afraid you only have yourselves to blame for
allowing this.
So in summary. I do not recommend this bar, but in the spirit of fairness I also wouldn't recommend Calicos either. They are both run extremely badley and run by 'children'. It amazes me how Oakham's youth seem to now dominate Oakham's nightlife, most of whom are under the legal drinking limit.
It's much better to chip in and get the train over to Stamford and a taxi back. A bit more pricey but worth it.
