Air Ambulance to open charity Shop in Oakham

Buy the Book closed down on the 15th January 2012. the shop has remained empty since. Planning applications were received by the council to make alterations to the stores interior. Most of the work was carried out before approval was granted, some even carried out whilst Oakham Town Council sat and met to discuss the listed building.

Sadly a lot of the interior features, part of the buildings retail history ended up in the skip rather than remaining or finding their way to the museum.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance have decided they can afford the high rent
and will be opening a fund raising shop later this month.

Additional charity shops are not welcomed by all residents. Former Councillor and Oakham Mayor Jim Harrison, who is never afraid to speak his mind, but is often quick to condemn others for doing the same.
