Oakham Town Council Agree Not To Tender for Tree Works

Oakham Town Council Agree Not To Tender for Tree Works

Despite a change of vote by some members the decision not to go out to tender for work on one tree at Cutts Close was passed.

The reason I say this is corruption is due mainly to Clerks report when he advised members of the good relationship the contractor has with the council and for this reason they should not tender.

Earlier this year the Council did tender for work that was carried out on many trees in Cutts Close.

Paul Ford won that tender being the cheapest. I have no proof, but my experience of this councils tendering process could lead to an interested party being notified of details contained within in other tenders.

So often the person who normally charges the highest amount comes in at the lowest price when tendered.

This happened when the flower contracts were first tendered after the contractor had put the price up year
after year.

When Paul Ford Tendered for the work on the many trees at the beginning of this year he was paid

01/03/12 Tree Work @ Cutts Close Paul Ford Tree Surgery Ltd £3300

Now the company does not have to tender they are charging £2500 for work on one tree?
Now I hope readers can see why I asked for the contract to go out to tender in the end it saves the tax payer a lot of money.

Of course I understand Paul Ford Tree Surgeons are going to be a bit short of cash this Christmas after losing the lucrative contract to put up and take down the towns Christmas lights a loss of £10,000 + for two half days work. Oakham Town Council is not a charity and has responsibility to spend public money efficiently  and we won't have the town littered with broken glass ever again.
