Oakham Town Council, Cutts Close, ugly signs, take a bashing

Oakham Town Council, Cutts Close, ugly signs, take a bashing

Oakham Town council recently installed ugly signs in Cutts Close as part of the Green Flag recommendations. The Keep Britain Tidy Group did not specify the type of sign.

At the last parks and planning committee, there was talk of complimenting these signs with additional signs to display events information.

I always thought the council would have gone for a wooden sign and they did mention many meetings ago
incorporating in a least one, a place for notices.

If the Town council adds any further expensive street furniture to this green space the only green
thing for the judges to judge, will the green of the signs.

The signs are not made of 100% metal, they are made of a thin sheet of metal sandwiched in plastic. A cheaper option at £180 each?

As you can see from the photograph above they are getting bashed and bent.

Some are further damaged as they are used for bottle openers.

A dangerous practice, I always cringe when I see this remember the person I administered first aid they broke the bottle and stabbed it into their wrist.

The town council is planning to spend money on similar signs for Royce Recreation Ground vandalism has been a little worse there, So I wonder how long they will last.
