Northamptonshire Constabulary, Police England and Wales Police and Crime Commissioner elections, 2012
Northamptonshire Constabulary
Jim MacArthur standing for UKIP. Policing is a complex business and Northamptonshire Police a large organisation. To be successful the Police and Crime Commissioner will need a multiplicity of qualities and experience. At the very least these should include those of Police service and Senior Management in a similarly large organisation.
John Norrie is an independent candidate. Born in Scotland John has lived in Northamptonshire for 27 years. He is married, Chairman of Northampton Advanced Motorists and an international sabre fencer. He left secondary modern school at 15, managed to get to university, gaining a bachelor’s degree and a PhD. He has worked as an independent professional for 30 years scrutinising performance and asking probing questions. He has sought to change the way people think about what they do and to take responsibility for improving what they do. He has an international reputation in this area.
Adam Simmonds is the Conservative candidate. I am married with a young son. Working with Northamptonshire’s biggest employer I managed multi-million pound budgets and drove efficiency. I have worked closely with Police, Fire and Ambulance services. I want to combine my passion and experience to make Northamptonshire the Safest Place in England.
Lee Barron, the Labour candidate, announced his intention to withdraw on 31 October when he revealed that he had committed a minor offence 22 years ago which would mean that he would be ineligible to take up the post if elected. As he missed the official deadline to withdraw, his name will still appear on the ballot paper as the Labour Party candidate.
