Oakham Christmas Lights Going Up, Old Ones Dumped in a Field, Photograph
Oakham Christmas Lights have finally arrived.
£16,000 of new light are now going up.
You might think £16,000 is a lot for a little town, that is nothing compared
what the the Town Council used to pay their mates to put up and take down
the diabolical lights over many years before. Last year it cost £20,000+
just to put up and take them down.
This years bill of £16,000 includes all that is required to put up and take down the
new lights, As the contract progresses in the followings years the bill goes down,
A rather strange thing for a council. like Oakham Town Council
Those few friends of the town council call me al sorts of names for asking
for changes like this.
The delay in the lights going up, was caused by the company who make
the transformers they sent AC rather than DC to Stamford.
I was shocked to find that the man who had been paid tens of thousands
of tax payers money in the past, to put up take down and store the lights.
Dumped them in a field, disgusting!
The new company says it found the lights dumped in a field.
we are all used to seeing stars, bells and toys hanging from lamp
posts sadly these can no be used, due to the way in which they have
been stored.
This is the same man who no longer needs to tender for council contracts,
because the clerk says at a meeting the council has a good working relationship
between them.
