Rutland County Council to Sell Ashwell Business Units, To Fund Prison Project, Photographs
The sign says most of the units are let.
The truth is most of the units are empty, those few that are occupied are used by Rutland County Council.
The Business Park is as Rutland County Council prefer to call it The Enterprise Park is one of
the Council failures.
The Anti Corruption Party have long argued with the Tory Deputy Leader Terry King over the lack of
use.
A good look around soon shows why there appears to be a lack of interest. Its prone to flooding
and many of the units appear to share on Porto Loo.
Last August Cllr Terry King told the Anti Corruption Party in a comment on their blog.

Mr Wainwright has a few errors in his blog which it may be useful to correct. The Units were converted at a cost of £142,000 using grants from EMDA. From Tuesday 28.8.12, 8 units will have tenants and 2 are used by RCC temporarily to avoid paying rent elsewhere. These Units are let to allow new or small growing businesses to grow with flexible terms so turnover will be experienced. For details see http://www.rutland.gov.uk/business.aspx
Terry King, Deputy Leader, RCC
Looking around it is hard to see what the council spent the £142,000 on converting the old highways depot.
Now Cllr King wants to flog it of to fund his next project The Ashwell Business Park, I understand the
council has wanted to sell to a house builder for sometime, The land is only a few steps from the Prison
Site a area MP Alan Ducan said was not suitable for housing.
