Good to see Stamford Town Council is taking action.
It's contractor Mitchell and Hudson facing legal action for shoddy work on a new toilet block it has built
on Stamford recreation ground for the Town Council.
Mitchell and Hudson built a similar block here in Oakham a few years ago for about twice the money, for
Rutland County Council and Oakham Town Council.
Mitchell and Hudson were also responsible for the huge £30,000 bandstand facelift. They were also
responsible for the huge bill for refurbishing the private gym in Princess Avenue, leased to friends
of The Town Council. It is hard to see where the money has been spent, especially when you look at
the outside and see the cheap silicone sealant holding the old light fittings to the outside walls.
Its shocking the expenditure of nearly £60,000 did not cover the cost of a new fence. The tenants despite
receiving the benefit of a quarter of the town councils income now demand the tax pater buys them a new
fence. When the questioned about who is responsible for the fence by a councillor the Clerk replied after a muttering, we are but they will be once it is erected.?
Many times I have asked Oakham Town Council to justify the money it pays Mitchell and Hudson over the
years,
I have also asked Oakham Police to investigate and they have refused.
At my tribunal the Judge said the Town Council was wrong to attempt to stop me highlighting the high
cost of the bandstand bill.
