American, Philadelphia Toboggan Company, 6ft model carousel, Oakham Castle, Oakfest

Last night I was told the Carousel appearance
has been cancelled

As part of Oakfest, which is being held tomorrow (Saturday 29 June), a 6ft model carousel, based on a version built in American by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, will be on display at Oakham Castle

It has taken Rutland resident, Glenn, over twenty five years to build the carousel,
which has 12 sections and 36 mounts including a cockerel, lion, and a camel.

The ride is supported from a centre pole on which the gears are mounted to enable
the horses to rise and fall and . . . it comes complete with music!

Oakfest! runs from 12 - 4pm and is a free family event with staged entertainment

(three bands, a choir, African drumming, Ukulele band & dancers),
and roving street entertainers, children's ukulele-making workshop, circus skills, Rutland Lion's BBQ,
coffee and cakes van, veggie Indian food, ice-cream van and Grainstore bar.
