Green Peace Activists hijacks Shell's Belgian GP podium just metres away from celebrating Vettel, Alonso and Hamilton on day of protests at F1 race

Green Peace Activists hijacks Shell's Belgian GP podium just metres away from celebrating
Vettel, Alonso and Hamilton on day of protests at F1 race

Shell's biggest publicity event of the year has just finished and several activists were there, exposing Shell's risky plans to drill for oil in the Arctic.

The Belgian Grand Prix is a huge day in Shell's calendar, when it hopes to draw the world's attention away from its disaster-prone Arctic drilling program

But wherever Shell shows its face, we'll be there too to unmask the truth and our activists successfully rebranded the grand prix by draping a banner in full view of Shell's VIP suite.

A handful of activists in Belgium have got the world’s attention, but we need millions to join the movement to save the Arctic. Add your name now to stop Shell from drilling in the Arctic.

Our activists put safety above everything. That’s why we are not interfering with the race today. The only race we want to stop is the race to the Arctic, because Shell’s gamble with the Arctic puts us all at risk.

The oil giant has already tried (and catastrophically failed) to drill in the seas off the coast of Alaska. Now Shell has made a deal to exploit weaker protections in the Russian Arctic instead.

The Arctic sea ice is nearing another historic low.

Temperatures increases in the Arctic are much higher than anywhere else on the planet. And now Shell is leading the insane race to drill for the fuels that caused the melting in the first place.

It’s up to us to stand up to reckless companies like Shell’s until the Arctic is safe.
Shell spends millions on publicity events like Formula 1.

But we have something Shell can’t buy.

The fight to save the Arctic is on – thanks for being part of it,
Nic and the Greenpeace crew around the world

Right now the Greenpeace ship, Arctic Sunrise, is in Russian Arctic waters, bearing witness and taking action against the reckless oil companies racing to drill there. But we can take action to stop oil companies like Shell at home too. Add your name now to stop Shell from drilling in the Arctic.

We don't accept any money from companies or governments so we can be independent and challenge anyone who threatens the planet or peace. To help us keep fighting climate change, defending our oceans and protecting ancient forests, you can make a regular donation by direct debit. Thank you!
