Rutland Tory Councillor Terry King, To Busy Fighting, once again Council almost loses tax payer 106 money

It was not long ago the council nearly had to hand back cash to developer in Oakham
after they forgot to spend it on what was required. That time Cllr king rushed out
and bunged a kiddies play area in on of Oakham's Estates.

I noticed the other day the Tory Cabinet Agenda contained a report once again
pointing out one of Mr Kings failings.

He had forgotten the Rutland Care Village 106 contribution.

Below is the rushed decision on how that money will be spent.

WHEN HIS TEAM HAS STOPPED THEIR CHILDISH FIGHTING
MAYBE HE WILL REMEMBER THE UNSPENT 106 CONTRIBUTION
FOR CHURCH STREET

ALLOCATION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING CONTRIBUTIONS
(Key Decision)

Report No.185/2013 from the Operational Director for Places was received.
The Portfolio Holder for Finance, Property, Development Control, Planning Policy,
Economic Development and Tourism, Mr King, introduced the report the purpose of
which was to advise Cabinet that the Council retained funding from a section 106
agreement for the provision of affordable housing which must be ‘allocated’ by 30
September 2013, or it would have to be returned to the developer.

During consideration, the following points were noted:

i) It was important that the funding was not lost as there was a need for
affordable housing in Oakham and Barleythorpe.

DECISION

1) That COUNCIL BE RECOMMENDED to allocate the remaining Rutland
Care Village funding to affordable dwellings for rent through tenancy or
licence in Oakham and/or Barleythorpe, for single people and/or couples
aged between 16 and pensionable age.

2) That a further report be brought forward in due course with detailed
proposals for the use of the affordable housing cumulative funds.
Reason(s) for the decision(s):-

1) The allocation of this commuted sum by the deadline of 30 September 2013
would help to meet local housing need in accordance with the Section 106
Variation Agreement for the Rutland Care Village development in Oakham.
