The Relocation of Oakham Post Office Oakham Town Council Consultation

The Relocation of Oakham Post Office Oakham Town Council Consultation

The Post Office ask the Town Council for their views on the relocation into Martin's Newsagent.

But as expected Oakham Town Councillors in the main did not respond as requested.

Cllr Alfred Dewis was very concerned about what was going to happen to the old building.
then what if Martin's closed.

Cllr Stubbs wanted to know more about the deal Martin's Newsagents had struck with The Post
Office. Other Councillors felt it was not their business to know. He went on to mention his life
down south when he was a parish councillor. He said he had dealings with the Post Office and
they terrible.

Cllr lowe also wanted to know what the long term plans were for the vacated building.

Cllr Locckett wants assurance that the Post Office is committed  to remaining long term in Oakham.

Cllr Dyer was concerned about losing the half hour opening the morning, because he personally
collected parcels on his way to work.

Surprising the only Cllr who got what was required of them, was Cllr Lucas who was concerned
about disabled access as she had noticed that some Post Offices located at the rear of shops
are sometimes obstructed by stock.
