It's not often I agree with what is printed by the Tories in our local paper,
The Passing of Sir David who was a true gentleman.
Over the years I met a chatted with Sir David at Clipsham whilst a friend
tended their family grave. We did not not chat about politics, we stuck to
Rutland History and in particular Clipsham, Sir David told some interesting
tales about residents and the ladies who enjoyed driving their sports cars around
the village. He knew my friends mother who lived in the village for a number of years
and now rests in the family plot by the church door. Looking at Clipsham today you
would not believe it once had a thriving community and shop. Now it has posh houses
and a posh pub and B&B.
I always admired Sir David's garden and to think he was still digging his own vegetable
garden in his 90's
