Air Ambulance Lands Outside Leicester Mercury Office After Young Man Stabs Man in Head and Stomach Granby Street Leicester

Officers investigating a stabbing in Leicester city centre this afternoon (Saturday February 1) are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The incident took place at about 2.22pm in Granby Street, when a 46-year-old man was assaulted and sustained injuries to his head and stomach.

He has been taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary where he is undergoing treatment.

A 17-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, he remains in police custody.

Inspector Mick Edwards, said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, especially anyone who was in the Barley Mow Pub across the road from the scene of the incident around 2.22pm this afternoon.

“If you haven’t yet spoken with officers we would urge you to come forward. We would also like to speak to anyone who witnessed the events leading up to the incident. Any calls received will be treated in confidence.”
