Oakham Uppingham Rutland England Photographs
Today I managed my trip to Uppingham, using the poor public transport that is available here in Rutland.
It's the first time since moving here nearly 8 years ago, I have attemped to use a bus.
If it was summer I would have walked.
4 school children and six adults travelled from Oakham, we stopped to pick up the councils uniformed enforcement officer on the way past the council offices.
We went into Manton and out again, no additional passengers joined the bus,
The Rutland Flyer bus service was on time, the bus is a bit noisy and rattley
especially the clunk of the geer change as we went down the hill and back up the dip.
Once in Uppingham, I saw the drunk lady police removed from Oakham the other day.
As it was valentines day I was treated to a show waiting for the return bus, a woman snogging
a man who looked as if he was her toyboy, whilst hanging onto a bottle of pink wine.
Now I believe the comments online about the drink issues people say exsist in the town.
I missed one return bus, so I decided to visit the church. The ladies from the food bank were
packing away, no one required the services of the food bank today or maybe those who
need it have used up their three visits.
Whilst I was taking a few photographs a flower lady approached me and asked if I was
taking photographs of the church and returning to burgal it later tonight. I thanked her for her
warm welcome and asked if the church had suffered any losses. She said they were having
a lot of problems with young people from schools and I had raised her suspicions,
so she was just checking. I soppose at nearly 48 I should take that as a compliment! :-)
So if you need a nice old lady to watch you're church, can I suggest the flower lady from
Uppingham.
