Oakham Town Council Election

Oakham Town Council Election

The date has passed for residents to call for an election after the resignation of Co-opted Cllr Simon Dyer.

No notice has been posted to indicate if residents have collected the required ten signatures and called an election.

I told the Chairman, I would do the leg work for one of their cronies and would be very happy if
the went to co-option, its not democratic but will save the local tax payer another £5000 election costs.

I think he also understood the serious issues facing Oakham Town Council this year as new rules
don't like parish councils with so many co-opted members, it is no democratic.

Oakham Town Council does not represent the people of Oakham over half its members are co-opted
by those who were elected unopposed, who often lie when they say they don't know a candidate who lives
in the same street as them and then become instant friends.

Cllr Martin was co-opted after The Mayor Cllr Adam Lowe promised her a seat if she lost the election.
I think that should have barred her from co-option, because the rules say a Cllr can not invite anyone for
co-option.

It would be good fun if the Mayor invited his mate former Mayor Paul Beech for co-option, Oh no he won't accept co-option something happened in 2007.
