Join super spinner Pam Austin on her fascinating 4-week course, turning natural fibres into beautiful yarn- it’s ideal for beginners who want to learn or existing spinners who want to become more creative in their craft. Lunch is included in the price and wheels, wool, silk and alpaca fibre and are all provided- you even get to borrow a spinning wheel to take home for the duration of the course. The sessions will cover:
Technique: Long draw and worsted.
Fibre preparation: Local fleece, alpaca, fine quality wool.
Yarn: The principles of design, plying, finishing and the qualities of a good yarn.
Colour : The behaviour of colour in spinning, plus mixing and blending.
Equipment: Traditional and modern Ashford wheels, drum and hand carders, niddy-noddies, Lazy Kates, swifts and wool winders (all available for sale and loan).
Price £69 per day, including lunch.
