Age UK Leicestershire & Rutland (Age Concern) to close Rutland Day Centres for Old Folk, Rutland County Council Funding Cuts

Age UK Leicestershire & Rutland (Age Concern) to close Rutland Day Centres for Old Folk, Rutland County Council Funding Cuts

Conservative Leader of Rutland County Council Roger Begy Spoke at this week council meeting.

First thanking former Tory Gene Plews for reminding him of his old age.

Then went on to blame Age Concern for the anticiipated clousures of at least 5 day centres in Rutland.
He said Age Concern had not held any consultations with staff or the council.

He added he hoped those in management made redundent would consider setting up a social enterprise and run the centres with the council limited grant and staff them with volunteers.

As Rutland's population of oldeer people steadily grows past 60% of the residents, it is a disgrace this Conservative council continues to make cuts to their esssential services.
