Oakham Town Council Grant Applications 2014

WEDNESDAY 23RD APRIL 2014 AT 7.00 PM
AT THE OFFICES OF OAKHAM TOWN COUNCIL,
VICTORIA HALL, 39 HIGH STREET, OAKHAM

Oakham Town Council will be considering grant applications from the following, No Oakham Festival or Oakham in Bloom after many years of taking public cash.

But don't be fooled by this list of applicants containing some new, they all have contacts with local governance.

I often wonder why small local groups don't apply, I know of one based in the scout hut that was turned down by Lloyds bank last year when they applied for a small grant.

(i) Oakham United Football Club

The above has previously recieved a lot of public money and a free football ground, which Rutland College thinks the club had paid, why can't they fund raise themselves like many other clubs.

(ii) Trustees of the Victoria Hall

Does the council not already pay them enough rent?

(iii) The Mount Group Riding for the Disabled Association

(iv) Rutland Symbiotica

Self help group for those with a disability

(v) Oakham Home Garden and Allotment Society

(vi) Ball4All CIC

Ball4All CIC is a private company based in Leicester not Oakham

74 DORCHESTER ROAD
LEICESTER
LEICESTERSHIRE
LE3 0UG

(vii) Age UK Leicestershire and Rutland

Its great shame Oakham Town Council does not have the money to cover
Rutland County Councils cuts to their funding of the day centres

(viii) Health and Leisure Rutland and District

(ix) Vale Judo Club

This a private chain and is very succesful described in the press as the countries best chain of Judo Clubs.
Rutland County Council have supported this group since it's formation
and according to Cllr Alf they still do by giving them a preferential rent.

(x) Rutland Citizens Advice Bureau

It was a disgrace when Oakham Town Council withdrew funding from
this very well used and essential service. Although I often hear people
saying they don't trust the Oakham Branch. I myself suffered from a breach of confidentiallity The Councils representative on their committee is the disgaceful Cllr Charles Haworth. Then there is the mystery of Cllr Dewis leaving it's service and declining his committee position. If Cllr Haworth actually did as he was meant to do listen and reported back figures to the council, instead of just sitting and gossiping over tea, The  Town Council would know how important the CAB is to local people.

The service is very well used by Oakham resident but receives no funding from Oakham. I hope the Town Council will award them a grant this year.
