UKIP Win East Midlands European Election Results, Rutland Result

If we believe all the media says UKIP is the party against immigration. Comments made on the Rutland Times/Mercury web page suggest a selfish party going as far as comparing the party to Thatchers.

From what I see UKIP is made up of a lot of people with different opinions and no one policy.
Locally with have three county councillor who joined UKIP and sit under the protection of the UKIP umbrella, telling us they can still do as they please at a local level without any interference from the national party, is that the independent  part of the UKIP name?

They may have to consider leaving the party if they want to keep their seats at the 2015 Rutland Elections.

Rutland European Election Results

Rutland Cons 3981

UKIP 3210

Lab 1096

Libs 783

A poor turn out for Rutland when you consider the total  for the top votes don't add up to entire population of Oakham.

Some members of UKIP seem sensible, others are nuts, racist and homphobic.

A lot of UKIP people I have met blame many problems this country has on immigration, often forgetting the good old British who set up camp all over Europe and other counties outside the EU.

As for selfish, I wonder if it is selfish or racist for a UKIP supporter wanting to stop immigration, when that person wants to sell their business here in Rutland and retire to Europe and not the UK?
