Homophobic Oakham Town Council would not comment about its homophobic members. They comment on disgraceful attack?

Homophobic Oakham Town Council would not comment about its homophobic members.
They comment on disgraceful attack.

Dennis Bradley, project manager at Leicester’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, (LGBT), Centre, told local newspaper Leicester Mercury the attack was deplorable.

‘It is appalling that in this day and age that a young woman is unsafe in her own neighbourhood,’ he said.

Councillor Jayne Woodcock, mayor of Oakham and chairwoman of the town council, agreed.

Last October, Oakham Mayor at the time Cllr Adam Lowe, refused to issue a statement after members of the town council past and present were outed in court as homophobic.

Serving Cllr Charles Haworth along with Former Mayors were named in court as having contributed to a blog and other homophobic activities.

'Haworth had argued in the trial his attacks on Brookes on his Laughing Stocks website were satirical.

But Judge Temperley said: ‘I don’t agree. Some of the material goes way beyond satire. They are crude and crass and homophobic.’

Another former Oakham Mayor Cllr Joyce Lucas BEM once accused me of bringing the council and the position of  into disrepute, because I published photographs of a small birthday celebration I held at The Rainbow and Dove in Leicester, She was particularly offended by my publication of photographs of the performing drag queen, who she referred to as a transvestite.

I thinking it's shocking Oakham Mayor Cllr Jayne Woodcock was approached for a comment know her friendship with one former Oakham Mayor described as one Cllr Charles Haworth's 'Partner in crime'

I can only assume by commenting on this disgraceful attack on one of our residents Cllr Woodcock and her team are attempting to gain a few political points. Although I am not sure people are as easily fooled as our town council thinks!

The media should seek the opinion of real people not the homophobic bigots who falsely claim they serve our community.
