Oakham Town Council Planning Sub Committee Report August 14th 2014
This morning I attended the first proper meeting of Oakham Town Councils planning sub committee.
at 10.00am the meeting was over within 8 minutes.
The committee was set up by Cllr Stan Stubs who wants Rutland County Council to take the council
seriously?
Cllr Lockett was absent no reason given.
Cllr John Nowell rushed in dressed in shorts on route to Southampton and Cllr Leanne Martin the chair of th committee arrived late. Wanting to sit in one of the normal Councillors chairs. Not wanting to take center stage in the chairman's seat? The Clerk insisted she did.
Cllr Alf Dewis Deputy Mayor was confined to a public seat.
Three people decided on three applications one included quite a large one from Tesco. All three were rushed through with little if no planning consideration. The Tesco application included an application for a lot of new signage it was clear the members of the committee had only considered the corporate store name signs, missing the various other signs to be displayed through out the site.
All applications were recommended for approval.
Cllr Leanne Martin was in my opinion unlawfully co-opted last year and despite her nice persona she is clearly in my view not dedicated to serving the community, she rushed of straight after the meeting to join her family.
She failed to win an election, I find it annoying how Oakham Town Council spend so much on an election and then co-opt their preferred candidates.
I don't think this committee of four will in any way change Rutland County Councils view of Oakham Town Council and Town Planning matters.
Not all wards are represented on the committee.
This video is from the live stream, I will upload a clearer quality version later today.
