A judge has criticised Leicestershire Police for the way officers conducted an interview with a six-year-old girl who was badly abused by her mother.
Judge Clifford Bellamy said the way officers handled the interview with the girl meant the evidence gathered from her was worthless.
The judge, who was sitting in a family court in Leicester on Wednesday, said it was the third occasion on which he had found shortcomings in the force’s handling of interviews in delicate cases.
