Oakham's Deputy Mayor Alf Dewis, said a multi-storey car park would be an asset to the town.

Oakham's Deputy Mayor Alf Dewis,  said a multi-storey car park would be an asset to the town.

Rutland County Council is considering building a multi-storey car park to replace the Westgate car park!

What a lovely attractive sight this would be for those older residents who reside in the nearby St John's Alms
Houses.

Multi Storey Car Parks often become rather unpleasant places, take at look at Leicester or Peterborough many often used by drug user and prostitutes and those needing a pee or crap! and sadly the occasional suicide.

In my opinion multi storey car parks need blowing up (lawfully) just like the mistakenly built tower blocks of the 1960's are now.

Mind you a construction like this would stop Cllr Dewis's other plan, his undemocratic Town Partnership for many years has campaigned for the unwanted one way road system throughout our town centre. I believe a new road would have passed through this site and as Tory Leader Roger Begy said at a meeting the Baptist Church, Hopefully Alf's daft plan will also become a Partnership dream.
All this man and his friends want to do is destroy what remains of  the character of our historic market town.

There is plenty of space to park in this town, the problem is most car users like the convenience
of their cars, many are not willing to walk a little to their destination. I am sure many would
be pleased if all our stores became drive through.
