Posh Jumble Sale of Mens Designer Wear and Ski Wear Pillings Road Oakham, In Aid of Citizen Advice Bureau

Saturday 21st February 2015

This event is organised by For Rutland In Rutland, who used to run many events
to support Macmillan Cancer.

Macmillan pulled the plug on funding one of the teams friends who has a paid post
at the Oakham CAB, The group decided to deprive Macmillan of much needed funds
by setting up a charity For Rutland In Rutland to fund the post over a year ago.
They did not register the charity and when myself and other people started raising
concerns the group decided it would become a Rutland Citizen Advice Charity.

The post this group funds, has also seen the closure of the Karen Ball Charity
who diverted their own funds to help pay for this advisor.

The position is a double provision of service because Macmillan now provide the
same service via a mobile bus.

The CAB in Oakham provides many vital service and needs funds, this group raises
much more than the cost of providing for this post. Perhaps they should become CAB general fund raisers.

The Town Council will no longer be providing significant funding.
Which I think is a disgrace.

The CAB should not expected to apply for a community grant, it should be funded
in the same way the Town  Council pays a contributions to Rutland County Council
for the CCTV that does not work and the dog warden, all essential services.

This year the Town Council has capped grant payouts to £1000 max per
organisation.

In the past the CAB received £5000 from Oakham Town Council as the demand
for services have increased year after year the payment has dropped to £2000

I believe this is due mainly to the CAB sacking Cllr Alf Dewis after confidentiality
was breached by town councillors,
