Oakham FITNESS CENTRE Oakham Town Council To receive an update and to
make any decisions as appropriate regarding site security
At Wednesday's meeting at Victoria Hall at 7pm
Oakham Town Council will be considering a report produced by Cllr Stan Stubbs.
In that report he mentions how helpful the very newly co-opted Cllr Blanksby has been.
He also mention the Deputy Leader of Rutland County Council Terry King has been involved
why? He is not a Oakham Town Councillor and does not live in Oakham.
I can understand Spire Homes being involved in the future of the building because
it would be good if they where to support the proposed community use of part of the
building.
I pointed out to the council the risk of losing the power to the premises if they don't
notify the provider, the risk being the public defibrillator is powered from the building.
The council has said it will deal with that matter.
The old tenants who benefited from a quarter of the council 2012 income have
now moved out to a unit at the former Ashwell Prison Site.
Before leaving the Clerk persuaded the council to spend even more thousands
of pounds of tax payers money on replacing the boundary fence at the request
of the tenants. The lease said the tenants were responsible for repairs. A councillor
did raise the issue of responsibility but accepted the clerk saying the tenants would
become responsible if they replaced it.
I don't blame the tenants for what they gained, I blame Oakham Town Council
for serious mismanagement and spending of tax payers money.
Although I do question why the council laid on two official openings for them.
I wonder how many Rutland County Council will give them at the prison?
