Oakham Town Council Planning Sub Committee Meeting 17th March 2015 Video
The committee of three met today and their professionalism and expertise meant
they were able to consider all the applications in under 10 minutes!
One councillor who clearly has learnt a great deal as he expressed his personal
opinion generally not considered lawful in the wider world of planning.
One of the applications was from Spire Homes who wish to demolish some
garages in Derwent Drive and build to affordable bungalows.
A town centre resident made me aware of their use of one the garages
so I raised an objection and suggested the Town Council pointed Spire
Homes in the direction of Princess Avenue. Many would know residents
in that road would be pleased to see the derelict garages in their street replaced.
The three councillors considered the application, Cllr Vincent Howard
agreed with some point of my deputation but added he felt a resident
living in town outside the street should not benefit from cheap garage parking?
An odd thing to say most of the garages in my road are let to people
who don't live in the street. Cllr Vincent Howard suggested the garages
should be demolished and the space used for Derwent Drive Residents
cars only.
Cllr Vincent Howard after the meeting told me he currently rents
a garage. So I guess cheap parking is fine for him?
