Joe O’Riordan Councillor Polgate Town Council found guilty of attempted murder
After he stabbed his wife with a kitchen knife.
Cllr O' Riordan has been described as a controversial Councillor.
Back in 2013 he resigned from the council as a Polegate Residents’ Association representative earlier that year, saying he felt Councillors were there purely to boost their own egos and backing proposals which could be to the detriment of Polegate.
His resignation prompted a by-election, costing tax payers thousands of pounds.
Political watchdogs were then surprised when he stood as an independent candidate at the by-election, which he won by a majority of just six votes. (230 votes)
