Melton borough councillor Gary Bush has pleaded not guilty to two charges of benefit fraud.
Mr Bush appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court today.
He is charged with failing to notify Melton Council of changes in his circumstances, affecting his entitlement to claim council tax benefit, between July 18, 2011 and January 1, 2012.
Mr Bush, of Grange Drive, is also charged with failing to notify the council of changes in his circumstances, affecting his entitlement to claim council tax benefit, between October 29, 2012 and January 31, 2013.
It’s alleged Mr Bush failed the notify the council he was in receipt of pension income.
Mr Bush denies all charges, has elected for his case to be heard at Leicester Crown Court.
His case was adjourned until April 16 for a preliminary hearing at the crown court.
