Rutland Voters Take to Twitter to Complain about Poor Delivery From Rutland Returning Officer Helen Briggs
Last week I contacted the Electoral Commission and Rutland's Returning Officer Helen Briggs
after it has become very apparent that people in Rutand and Overseas are not receiving postal
vote in time to vote tomorrow.
As you would expect Mrs Briggs denies any failings by her or her team. She has the full
support of the pointless local election commission. Who is always pleased to accept
her responses with no investigations.
I have noted two serious issue relating to postal votes here in Rutland.
Despite the Electoral being updated shortly before the first batch of votes
were sent out the Return to Sender not know at this address pile runs into
the hundreds.
Many votes have been rejected because the voters signature on the Master
Copy on the councils file is not clear. These are scanned from the original
application to use a postal vote why are voter not told at the earliest point
about this? I believe this is a serious administration failing.
It will be interesting to see if Rutland County Council publish details
of how many postal votes are received by them after the election.

Two days to go to Election Day and Rutland Council's Electoral Department left it so late to send out the ballot papers that we can't vote.— Betty Orme (@BettyOrmeSmith) May 5, 2015
